well, so much for the hyped great pitching match up. 7 runs already scored in this one. Cubbies about to tie this one.
Would the offense have been as bad last year had Burke played everyday CF instead of Willy? Thank goodness he was given a chance in the playoffs...
Is Wilson making a turn around or is he just being gifted with some bad pitches? God his swing is ugly.
I wasn't knocking your question... just answering one question with another... it would have been hard to prove either. Also, Berkman still played several games in LF, with Lamb/Bagwell at 1B, while Willy was still in CF and Burke was on the bench. And, Luke Scott was the LF before Berkman came back. If they had simply made the move earlier (when they first decided to play Burke in LF) that the guy could be a decent CF, I have a feeling the offense wouldn't have been as "desperate". But, I guess they would have won the WC anyways, and since Burke did play/hit in the playoffs, it might not have made a big difference in the grand scheme of things.
I think he gave up "swinging out of his shoes", and as a result he's striking out less (but his power has gone way down). I'm hoping that this is just a "psychological" exercise to get his average to a decent number (which it is), away from the risk of setting a new all-time record in K's, and then he's just gonna let it fly. As long as he's driving in runs (whether its seeing-eye singles or HR's) I'm not going to have a problem with him.
just ignore Nomar like the rest of us do. the poor guy is extremely insecure and oversensitive to any comment that challenges him.
The never-ending saga of Garner really loving the lefty-lefty matchup continues. Ah well... Miller has looked better lately, and he did get the job done. I just think Wheeler could have probably done just as well against the weak-hitting Pierre.
Bad things happen when our bullpen walks guys to lead off late innings... hopefully Qualls will prove the exception.
Yeah that has really been the biggest problem with the pen this year. It always comes back to bite them. Got to get a DP right now!
Not only that... but they always seem to walk a TERRIBLE or MEDIOCRE hitter, that has no buisness walking in the first place. Its not like they're pitching around Albert Pujols in a 1 run game... its guys like Tony Womack. Nevertheless, good job by Qualls for not letting it destroy him this time.
Lights Out!!! Nice to see him and Andy both getting back in sync recently. Time to solve Zambrano tomorrow and sweep the Cubs!
great win...tomorrow's basically a bonus game in my opinion. what is this, the 2nd road series we've won?
