He was also a international champion/international MVP. That is a little more credentials for playing time than a defensive specialist who can't play D.
That is beside the point... The NBA is a learning process for even the most savvy players... It took Ben Wallace 3 different teams to finally put it together...
Joey wouldn't be there is the coaches and Morey didn't see something in him. He has something that's keeping him there even if it's bottom feeding.
Maybe I'm looking too much into this, but from what Morey and Adelman have said, it seems that Dorsey's just not "getting it". Sure, Luis and Landry were making tons of mistakes in their rookie years, yet you never hear the same things about them. I think it's less about him sucking and more about him unable to improve.
I agree, until recently. DM sounds rather high on him lately it seems to me. I think JVG would use him, but Rick would rather go Nelly or play a stretch 4 and sacrifice the defense...
While Dorsey has all the physical tools to be a contributing player (this guy has amazing length), but his IQ is about as much as a door knob. Maybe he can join T-Mac in his quest to see the Wizard of OZ. He can star along side of T-Mac (who is still looking for a heart) as the scarecrow looking for a brain.
Derrick Rose actually plays good though. Whenever Dorsey did play, he ended up racking up a bunch of fouls before he could get any significant playing time. He really needs to learn from Hayes.
wow how is this a 5 star thread? dorsey didnt even want to come into the game the other day. he has zero brains, and when he did play he got immediately by josh smith . he isnt what you think. hayes and anderson do alot more.
thats a dumb opinion if he plays he will get in foul trouble alot actually just like Luis Scola and Anderson when thehy were gettin the hang of things, Dorsey doesnt have the I.Q. level of Scola but he at least deserves a shot to develop and learn in an NBA game, to say he sholud sit if he fouls is the dumbest thing i ever heard
You have to think that his role would be comparable to what C.Hayes is doing for the team: defensive stalwart & hustler. Dorsey: 6'8" 268lbs, 26 yrs old Hayes: 6'6" 238 lbs, 26 yrs old Dorsey is obviously more athletic of the two, but the reason Joey will never pan out because his bball IQ is too low. Sure he might have a cool block and a highlight dunk once a month, but he doesn't know how to control his body/energy/athleticism, beat his man to the spot defensively, or offer the little things to help you win. I don't think our coach is an idiot. If Joey could help us, he'd be getting minutes, if not starting at center.
Joey is chomping at the bit. Did you see him hustle out to the scorer's table the other night to check into the game? Oh wait, he loafed out there, missed his chance to get in the game because of it and forced Rick to call a timeout just so they could insert him into the game. Yeah, he sure brings a lot to this team. Ray Lewis with a lobotomy.
ExACTly! ExACTly! Couldn't help but notice this. Basically, it was like, Here's your chance to get some minutes in the NBA, get on out there. But he was all smiles and giggles with someone and half-paying attention, half-caring. The dude just won't grow up.
