Ironic that Williams couldn't hold the ball all night (nice observation by Packer who was on tonight) and he was the one guy who made beautiful tip to essentially win game. He came up big there.
Billy Packer is the most bias announcer I've ever had to listen to. Why he is allowed to call any more Carolina games is beyond me. He's so one-sided it's sickening. And not for Carolina.
Congrats to UNC. They showed me they were more than great athletes, they made the extra pass and for the ball to their hottest player for most of the game.
I didn't really like either one of these teams but Roy Williams is such a class act. Glad to see that he finally won a championship. He deserved it.
I don't like Packer but not because I think he is biased. I just think he is a little rough on college kids. He will say things like "I don't know what that guy was thinking" and other really negative comments during the game. How he has worked his way up to calling all their top games I have no idea but he has been doing it for over twenty years so I don't think he's going anywhere.
Well I used to think the same thing but when he turned down Carolina the first time (I think they then got Matt Doherty), that is what really made me change my thinking about him. I mean UNC basketball is pretty arrogant, or at least the way they are portrayed by ESPN, because they kept saying that Dean Smith told Roy he wanted him to be the coach. And I remember Vitale and all the rest say, [annoying vitale voice]"Whoa, you don't say no to Dean Smith. Looks like a done deal that Roy is going to Carolina, BABYYYYYYYYY!"[/annoying vitale voice]. But he turned them down (which he admitted was his dream job) because he felt an obligation to his kids at Kansas. Loyalty - something you don't see very often these days.
It was interesting that Williams said he would play wherever Roy coached too. That is some serious allegiance.
