Rampage vs. Chuck II has the makings of being an all-time classic. For anyone who saw the first fight you know the ass whoopin that Chuck took from Rampage. Of course a lot has changed in the last 4 years. Chuck has turned into a machine knocking out people left and right. Rampage has suffered two brutal ko losses to Wanderlei Silva and has not been the same fighter since. My head says Chuck will win, but I want Rampage to win so I will call a ko in the 3rd round by Rampage. Will we see one of Rampages trademark slams??? I am also looking forward to Parisyan vs. Burkman. Karo has been one of my favorite fighters since he stepped into the octagon several years ago. He is one of the most exciting fighters there is in the game. His Judo throws are a thing of beauty that you will not see done by anyone else in MMA. But he is facing a tough fighter in Josh Burkman who is very strong and explosive. I say Karo wins this by submissin in round 2. For those who have followed the UFC for years you will remember Ivan Salaverry who is making his return to the UFC after being away for a couple of years. Ivan is a very talented fighter, but just does not always bring his A game. If he fights to his ability Martin won't stand a chance. Of course Martin's last fight (and first UFC fight at 185) he knocked out Jorge Rivera in 14 seconds. Styles make fights and these are two vastly different styles that will clash in the cage. For a guy who got jobbed in the Bonner decision and beat Forrest Griffin they sure did give Keith Jardine a can. I wish they would have given him another test to see if he is the real deal or not. But instead we see him against someone making their UFC debut. I am also hoping for a double ko between Leben and Starnes. I don't really care for either so that would be a great ending for me. Lastly Dana White said there will be a challenge made to the winner of the Jackson vs. Liddell match. It is known that Maricio "Shogun" Rua has signed a contract with the UFC. In case you have not seen Shogun you need to. He is one of the best light hw's I have seen in a very long time. He was up for the title in PRIDE before signing with the UFC. It is rumored that after the fight is over Shogun or Wanderli Silva will challenge the winnner in the ring to fight them next.
Thats a great lineup, I need to find a place to watch it in San Antonio. I have a feeling Chuck's takedown defense will stop Rampage's slams but if they get in the clinch for a long periods - Chuck will get taken down and beat on for the first time in a long time.
Not to divert the thread - but Kermit Cintron (a boxing WW champion -not on Floyd Mayweather's level but aprobably a top 5-7 WW with legitimate power) offered to take up Dana White's challenge to Mayweather and fight Sean Sherk at 155 under MMA rules. The catch is that Cintron apparently has extensive wrestling background prior to boxing. Dana White was last seen running away with his tail between his legs.
Awesome, I was wondering when the next installment of half naked men in shorts pretending to try to hit each other before falling on the floor for a 3 round awesome display of hugging and gruntfest which could only be rivaled by the local gay bathhouse would come out.
Well, if you hadn't started the thread, I was about to... After the last fight, rumors of Liddell having fought with a torn quad came up, but, to his credit, Chuck never brought it up and just said he got beat by the better fighter that day. Chuck is starting to get up in age - I had no idea Rampage was that much younger - so I'm hoping he's still in peak condition to fight Rampage. I want Chuck to win, but this one's a toss-up for me. It seems like whoever lands the first punch that rocks the other is going to gain an immediate advantage. Both of these guys are strikers, so I can't see this fight going for too long. Chuck is a pretty good wrestler, but you rarely get to see him wrestle because he hates to fight on the ground. That's a shame because I think Rampage could be beaten on the ground. In the first fight, I saw Rampage take some punches from Chuck - if he can withstand those bombs, Chuck may be in trouble. Striker vs. striker.... this should be fun. The Parisyan vs. Burkman fight should be good. I like Parisyan's throws - probably the best in the UFC that I've seen. He's equally as dangerous on the ground with his submissions. I've seen him thrown and land some bombs if it came down to striking, but I'm not sure he wants to do that with Burkman. I'm going for Parisyan with this one. I'm not too hyped about the rest of the card. I can't stand Chris Leben and hope he loses.
hell yea. i hope rampage whips chuck's azz. i cant wait to see shogun. he and his bro Ninja are two of my favorite fighters. seems alot of pride guys are coming to the UFC. i just hope Takanori Gomi would come to the UFC and take the lightweigh title after he whoops Nick Diaz in the rematch.
Basically Dana said "who the hell is Kermit Cintron?" which I agree with. Basically Cintron, a no name, wants to try to make a name for himself by using the UFC even if he does know he would get his head smashed in. No one would pay to see Kermit Cintron fight in an MMA fight so why would Dana make it happen? And hotballa you must be a boxing fan. Well I guess there is nothing wrong with going down with the sinking ship. Sure there are some fights that are not the most exciting in the world, that is even more true in boxing. I like watching the ultimate form of man to man combat which is MMA. When I first saw it 7 years ago I thought the same way as you, but the more you watch you see how techincal it is. It is a chess match on the gound.
I'm not a boxing fan either. I watched the first 12 UFC pay per views as soon as they came out and was into it long before anyone else. It's tedious and boring to watch guys try to stage gay p*rn and call it fighting. Maybe if I had forced myself to sit through 30 more pay per views of the same, I might have been able to brainwash myself into thinking that this was entertaining.

Where is everyone watching the fights? hotball...as for the rolling around on the ground grunting, some fights are like that but some are also crazy action with haymakers left and right. Even boxing has its snooze fests with guys just going through the motions to win rounds instead of knocking someone out...ODH v mayweather anyone?

I'm not a fan of boxing. when UFC started, they had a lot more variety, then they started adding in 50 different rules to make it favorable to the Gracies of the world. the last one I paid money for was UFC 12 I think.
To each his own, but I will tell you that the fighters these days are much more skilled that the ones in UFC 1-12. The fighters today try to end the fight as soon as possible because that is how they are asked back to fight and make the most money. A guy like chuck who knocks people out is the highest paid fighter and rightfully so since he always puts on a great show. You should give it another chance because IMO it is the greatest sport on earth and watching two guys try to knock each other out, make the other quit, break bones, or put the other to sleep is far from boring. Todays fighters are some of the most skilled atheletes in any sport. There are ground guys but you have to have an appreciation and knowledge of the ground game to enjoy it.

I'll take a look at Chuck, everyones been telling me how he's different from other headliners, so I'll see if he's for real. Still too many rules shaded towards grapplers for my taste.
because for every 5 gay p*rn mathces, there were moments of good stuff like this hawaiaan or fiji dude named Kimbo or whatever kicking the crap out of Gracie, before losing because Gracie fought like a little girl and pulled his hair. There was also this blonde dude who looked like DDP, he kicked someone to the floor, and then did a WWF style elbow drop on him. Not to mention this 400 pound sumo wrestlers who got jacked up by some little dude.
You should give it another try. Fans boo those types of fights off the stage, and Dana has let it be known - if you don't entertain - you won't be fighting in the UFC.
Who? At least Floyd would've been a draw... what does MMA get out of fighting Cintron? And where did Mayweather go? Oh yeah, he said he was just kidding with those comments... oops. Wasn't Cintron a high school or JUCO wrestler or something? Hell Sherk fought a Division I wrestler in Matt Hughes who happened to also be one of the best MMA fighters at his weight to a 5 round unanimous decision loss. But boxing's hopes could hang on the very appropriate shoulders of one Tommy Morrison who's expected to call out Chuck Liddell to fight him. lol.
Tell me how the rules made it more favorable to the Gracies of the world. I only ask this because Royce dominated the first years of the UFC when there were fewer rules. Also, what do you mean by "a lot more variety"?
