That might be true, however talent wise he is nowhere near federer(who is), roddick and nadal. I think hewitt is a great player but he is great because of his attitude, and mentally. I do not think that you can talk about players at their peak, because then you look at them only talent wise.

I feel that hewitt will not win a grand slam in the near future, because he is good, but he does not have games where he plays above his level. And you need those games sometimes, so IMHO their will always be one player that has such a game against hewitt and he will beat him then.

Like i have said for some time(i even started a thread about it) federer is the best and if he stays hungry he will be the best ever(however he has to stay motivated). he is just to talented.

You are right Nalbandian gave Federer hard time in the past. He is one of few current players who still have winning records against Federer. In fact, many had more wins over Federer than vice versa until his amazing run in the last couple of years (still counting) during which he has had 22 consecutive final victories -- a record in modern tennis, men or women. The players who had routinely beat Federer include Hewitt (believe it or not), Agassi, and Henman, are now owned by Federer. Nalbandian ousted Federer in the 4th round of 2003 US Open.

When Federer was asked in the post match interview yesterday after he defeated Kiefer, between Nalbandian and Sanguinetti (who presumably also has a good record against Federer), whom he likes to play against as his quarter-final opponent. Federer replied, in all honesty, he would prefer Nalbandian, "because I have a bad record against him."

Look for the sweet revenge from Roger. I can't wait.

nalbandian is a tough player to play against, however like you said, federer is unbelievable, so i do not see him having any problems with him this tournament

Blake is just beating Agassi at his own game right now... and why shouldn't he?

As long as Blake keeps his concentration and composure, he can run down any shot, and has all the stamina in the world... Agassi, unfortunately, cannot match the shot making and stamina at this age, but he could still out-wit him and hold up mentally.

But, if Blake is on... like he is right now up 2 sets to none... there's not many players out there who can stop him.

Frankly, I think Blake could use a guy like Andre to coach him in the future... get him to completely dedicate his life to fitness, help him become mentally strong, and to work on serve placement to utilize his tremendously powerful ground-strokes....

In the end... I just hope Blake is the next great Amnerican player (and not that cocky-ass Roddick).

Agassi looked downright gimpy and in pain during the first two sets, but that was an impressive run. He's not done yet.

I'm lovin it... Andre is turning it on, and Blake is starting to show the cracks in his mental psyche (which I just warned you guys about).

I was rooting for a great match all the way (with a slight sentimentality for Andre)... and we've got that. I just hope that if Blake is to lose this match, it doesn't send him in a downward spiral... and he continues to improve upon his game just like he did to get to this point.

The weird thing about the first two sets, even as Blake dominated and made Andre look 112 years old, you couldn't like the look on Blake's face. He had that "I wish I could bottle this" blank stare.

    What a freakin shame....

Possibly the best match of the UNITED STATES open, between the two best AMERICAN players left, in a country where men's tennis is looking for SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to gain some momentum....

and the match is no longer on TV due to "contractual obligations."

The Houston CBS station has "extra" on right now, and the US Open highlight show only scheduled for a half hour from now... this is supreme idiocy by the USTA, USA network, and CBS network... something should have been worked out so that one network could show this match in its entireity for the entire nation.

They've been doing it the whole tourney.

Never have I been so upset to switch over to CBS and see one of my favorite TV shows (Letterman).

    This is complete BS.

In this day and age of technology... they are still strapped by the virtual "contractual agreement."

Just tell me... who is it hurting if they continue to show this match? Is it hurting the USA Network? No... they probably had more viewers tonight just because of the match. Is it hurting the USTA? No... they haven't had a front page Men's tennis story on ESPN for ages... and now they have the match of the tournament and nobody (except for the west coast) sees it.

Its just stupid... I thought we left these sort of haggles in the early 90's... now that we have like 100 channels to put stuff on and live streaming television over the net.

Plus... it isn't like men's tennis is such a hot commododity that they have to come to these complicated agreements to protect the product... you freakin need this exposure!

EDIT: Alright... "Extra" should be over just in time for us to MISS the tiebreak... where would I be without my daily dose of "Extra."

I got nothing. Just Letterman. Maybe the greatest tennis match of the last ten years and I can't watch it. I have three TVs, one Direct TV connection, a cable connection, computer, high-speed wireless internet, toaster, electric razor and several loud guitar amplifiers ... and I can't watch a frickin' tennis match.

Alright... hopefully they'll start showing it as soon as it hits 12:05... there's still a little tie-break left.

EDIT: Well, screw that idea... I forgot that they don't really care how long commercial breaks are when its past 11:30.... there's no way they're switching over to this until right after match point... for torture's sake.
