Should the 'stros pick him up (if he clears waivers) to play at third instead of Castillo, since Wigginton is apparently a full time LF for the rest of the year?

Lamb had a lot of offensive success here in Houston. He might like to come back to where he had that success. If he clears waivers, the Twins will be paying out the rest of his full salary this year, and $3.8 mil next year, so salary won't be a big issue.

we're 10 out of the wildcard with at least 2 teams ahead of us that are definitely better..

So no. Lamb has no full-time gig here cause he's a 1st baseman, and we have one of those. And Puma is pretty good.

So I'd rather evaluate someone...ANYone...who might have a shot at playing here for longer than the rest of this year.

^ Did we move him off 3rd entirely last season? I forget. I do remember his sub-par fielding but also his monster shots.

What's Sean Berry doing these days? Damn, I can't decide between him and Bill Spiers.

He's played the most games by a wide margin at 3rd both last year and this.

My thought is that it isn't like Castillo is suddenly going to learn how to hit after 5 years in the majors, simply because he is in Houston. And it isn’t like we have anything that has any potential ready to play at 3rd base in the minors.

If we are going to have a place holder, it might as well be able to hit, if it doesn’t cost anything.

His numbers (.233/.276/.322) suggest that he can't hit, at least this season. That's in a good number of ABs, too (236). When you can't get your OPS over .600, you've been terrible. Jose Castillo's mediocre #s blow Lamb's away, and he can field.

Spiers by a long shot. One of my favorite Astros of all time.

So both of the Astros that went to Minny ended up getting DFA'd at one point or another. Everett was dropped only to be brought back when infield injuries hit the Twins.

I can still remember the 9th inning (or waas it 10th?) game ending single to win 5-4 after Wagner gave up that 2 run homer in the 9th ... (was it Jim Leyritz?)

Those stats for Lamb are just shocking. Only one homerun? That's amazing. He is totally underachieving. I don't know what's wrong with him...but he may just drift away into oblivion if he doesn't get his hitting back up to par. That's one funk our team doesn't need IMO. We did a good job of getting rid of most of the funk hitters who we were going nowhere with. To hell if I want to start bringing them back again.

We should tank the rest of the year to get that #1 pick!

Actually, I agree with him -- I think we should tank for the #1 pick, and then trade down. :D We need depth!

I miss Lambo. I would love for us to bring him back. He should have been made the starter at 3rd base over Ensberg two years ago. Garner kept yanking Lamb & Scott out of the lineup.

Given the right situation and consistent playing time, Lambo has .280, 30hr, 100 rbi potential.

I suspect Lamb will be "un"DFA'd by Minnesota on Monday when rosters can expand.

He was really good at 3rd base the last couple of years. Wigginton should not be at 3rd at all. He lets too many balls go by him.

Both are butchers at third base. The only reason I wanted to keep Mike Lamb, was that he's a lefty and we didn't have to give up Dan Wheeler. But wow, his stats are horrible his year.

Billy Spiers doesn't wear a watch. He decides what time it is.
