Ali Cat and I just got back form the tux and tennies ball tonight, courtesy of her parents A couple of notes: The players reputations are correct. Bullard is one of the nicest Rockets. I talked to him for a bit because he played some pickup at my highschool in the Woodlands once and one of my friends bought an 18 inch woofer off him once and he were remenicing about that. Moochie and Murphy are also quite cordial. In case anyone is wondering, Murphy's favorite cookies are oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. Kelvin Cato seems pretty dumb (well he does), and Franchise and Mobley seem to be "too cool" to interact with us civilians . But at least we found out that they dont play golf yet! Mo Taylor seemd fairly nice, but he and Shandon and Walt were busy bidding on a fair amount of memorabilia. I talked to Rudy for a bit. I think he was just trying to be nice cause i was a gushing fan, but I asked him if they were going to make the playoffs this year and he said it was an young energetic group of guys this year and they were really trying hard. Then I tried to get into some offensive talk with him (for Heypartner's sake) but it wasnt working. But he was nice and not drunk so that was fun As far as speeches go, Murphy and Barkley were both very humourous--Barkley was very dissapointed in the small (seemed like a lot to me) amount of food that was served! All in all it was a very fun event. I got to talk to or at least shake the hands of most of the Rockets players or those involved in the organization. PLUS, we were lucky enough to be the high bidder on a very cool Chris Webber package--signed Sacramento Kings jersey and signed 8X10 Kings picture. Very nice considering that he wil be a Rocket very soon (Also got a cool Louisville SLugger Jeff BAgwell signed bat---all the really cool Rocket stuff was going for a boatload, even Moochie got outbid for some cool Rocket stuff :eek If you have the loot to dish out for a good CHARITY purpose, you should definitely go if you can! ------------------
It was a blast! My only complaint was that the players kept bidding on stuff. I mean they were staking stuff out and intimidating others from bidding. Can't they just buy the stuff on their own time??? The coolest part was that I managed to convince my dad to bid on a Lunch with Steve Francis. Man, that would have been cool, but when it got up to $8000 he said no. For the most part everyone was nice, but cmon the players should be there to encourage people to bid and not bid themselves! ------------------ Poopy!
Hmm, I think it was the lunch. There was a golf package thingie with Rudy T (my dad wanted to bid on that too) that went for about $5000. I think the same person got it. The Comets four championship balls that were signed also went for a fair amount. Btw, does anyone know how I post an image off my computer and off my hard drive? We got the funniest pic as a gift that I scanned and wanted to share with ya'll. ------------------ Poopy! [This message has been edited by Ali Cat (edited March 17, 2001).]

I think the 4 retired Rockets jerseys went for $8500 or so. I saw a couple of ladies going back and forth on a tennis racket...I'm not sure who it was signed by. Someone also knocked over a framed photo and broke it...I'm not sure if they had to buy it or who the photo was of. Barkley's speech was pretty funny. Rudy talking about Dawson's country music was hilarious, too. Some FINE looking women in the crowd...good to see Tina Thompson and Swoopes make the dinner as well. Old School ------------------ I voted YES!
Find a post on this BBS with a picture in it and click to edit that post. Look how someone else did it and apply the same concept. You will notice that the picture is stored somewhere out on the Internet and not on their desktop computer. You will need to upload the picture somewhere for storage on the 'Net so it is always available 24x7. After it is uploaded, post your link and you should be in business. The first post in the following thread is an example: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/003241.html You will notice that he has the images stored at his Tripod account and has the proper links provided for your browser to retrieve them. You can't post a pic from your hard drive unless your hard drive or a path within is exposed to the Internet via a web server. As mentioned, you then plug the URL or address of where the pic is on the Internet into the IMG tags. Ali_Cat, if your ISP has allotted you some webspace, then scan the pic in, upload it to your webspace, and then link the image tag to it(check the URL of the pic to make sure it works first). Hope that helps. <font color="red">Update: Doh I just saw Mango's post before mine. Don't mess wit da Mango. Sorry Mango.</font> I'm jealous you got to meet and talk to the players. Rudy probably thought Jay was one of those barroom coaches trying to give him offensive pointers . Surf ------------------ [This message has been edited by Surfguy (edited March 17, 2001).]
I've always wanted to go to one of these things, but could never afford it. Now that I can afford it, I'm no longer in Houston... .
