http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=fanball-lakersrudytsdealallb&prov=fanball&type=lgns Lakers: Rudy T's deal all but finished by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Tuesday, July 6, 2004 News ESPN's Ric Bucher is reporting that Rudy Tomjanovich is set to replace Phil Jackson as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach. According to reports, negotiations have essentially concluded, and the parties are discussing who will make up Rudy T's staff. Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak immediately reconnected with Tomjanovich, who interviewed last week, after being turned down by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on Monday. Views The first critical piece to the Lakers' offseason puzzle appears to be in place. ESPN is reporting that Shaquille O'Neal, though respectful of the former Rockets coach, will not withdraw his trade demands to play for him, and that free-agent guard Kobe Bryant was likely consulted on his hiring. We also learned on Tuesday that Kupchak originally contacted Roy Williams, the head coach at his alma mater North Carolina, before even reaching out to Krzyzewski. Those discussions never became serious.
Shame on R.T. i meant they passed Rudy for a collage coach, and then turn back to R.T. when the job turned down by someone never coach any NBA game? he should say No and wait for next opptunity.
one of the largest cities, beautiful roads, excellent lifestyle, and a grand office, and replacing possibly the best coach ever(i dont agree). Heck Id take that job any day.
I hope Rudy doesn't exploit our weakness at Power Forward! Good Luck Rudy, your last name is easier to spell than the short dude from Duke anyways.
Great for Rudy. He’ll make a ton of money 4/5 years at like 5M+. I wish him the best of mediocrity with the Lakers.
For a sec, I thought Tony Saprano became the coach of lakers when I read the thread title. Good god, you had me worried for the Lakers.
Rudy is now the enemy! Mess with the best...die like the rest. See you in halls of nba hell, Rudy. Sincerely, Surf
Congrats, Rudy! I'll fear you every offseason. On the court, throw up your hands all you want. It won't help the ball go in.
Good for Rudy. I just hope he doesn't end up with a team who's best player is Gary Payton. Btw, good article on the product and the salesman Will.
Rudy T has always been one of my favorite parts of the Rockets. I love the guy. And something happened just this second. I realized that, in every game except for when they play the Rockets, I'll be pulling for the Lakers. The Lakers are my new second-favorite team. Weird. Does this make me a bad person?
