NFL ratings are higher than trumps, comrade. both. he is a fake patriot b/c he said POWs are not heroic b/c they were captured, insulted a gold star family and compared our country to the murderous regime of putin ("you think we are so innocent?") but uses this kneeling issue to rally his supporters.
you are also supposed to show respect for veterans and especially POWs and the parents of soldiers killed defending our country.
He was on Air Force Two. It's less than 15 miles to the airport (assuming it was the Indianapolis airport) from the stadium. Assume he leaves the game at 2:30 EDT (11:30 PDT). He's in the air by 1:00 PDT. He lands by 5:30 or so. I agree, it was a stunt, but he still could have stayed for the majority of the game (if not all) and made his event in California.
Any time there's secret service involved then yes but it requires extensive planning which I doubt they did. It would have been clear if that was the original plan.
No, he is the President of the United States and holds the highest office in the country. He is a representation of the United States. We are not lowering the bar so low that people are supposed to just ignore his tweets.
win at what? what did i lose? we have had this discussion before but ill bring it up again. people like you who view politics as a team sport are the biggest problem with our political system. you keep telling people not to complain about politicians and just worry about their "side". you say you dont like trump, but you constantly defend him b/c he is on your "side". at that point you are nothing more than a shill...a tool. i keep asking you this and you always disappear, but ill ask again...is it worse to complain about our elected officials on an internet message board or to complain about people complaining about our elected officials on a message board...seems that all you got is the latter.
Fake patriot is a reach. What he said about McCain was political--basically Trump's take on 'winning!' vs being captured. And I respect the heck out of McCain for his captivity and how he endured it--but his military record is hardly stellar. The gold star family was a trap the Dems laid, and Trump fell right into it. All that aside, the issue has been winning voters for Trump, and the NFL is noticing. Trump knew Pence leaving would gather even more support. Yes, pure politics. But I suspect smart politics.
I don't have a side fool. I'm a survivor no matter the game or the rules. Meanwhile you and many like you choose to be casualties.
Do what? Weaponize veterans and make a protest that has nothing to do with them as an attack on them? No I don't recall them doing that in my recent memory. Maybe you can point an example to me.
Trump doesn't care about sports. He just wants to use sports as a venue for his own political protest in favor of police brutality against minorities. Everything is a Confederate monument for his kind. I don't think Trump is doing himself any favors by wading into this controversy. IIRC, the polls showed that a majority of those surveyed tend to be against Kaepernick's protest prior to Trump's involvement. Trump getting into this on the apparently more popular side of the issue has not made Trump more popular in the polls, but has rather turned the public more in favor of the protesting players.
I believe the real reason Pence left was all those sexy cheerleaders dancing and gyrating with alcohol in close proximity - even with his wife by his side that was just too much.
That is also the real reason he was stiffly holding his heart and trying to look away from the field. I saw it as a Fred Sanford kind of thing:
not really. he slanders POWs, gold star families and when asked about the brutality of the Putin regime said "you think we're so innocent". and now he wants to pretend like he is the defender of the flag and what it stands for. trump doesnt care about this kneeling issue and his supporters who do are shills and hypocrites. if thats true that is actually worse...he slandered and made fun of POWs in order to take a political jab at john mccain. how so? how so? and even if so, it does not excuse the way he treated them. contrast that with hillary clinton and her response to the woman whose son was killed in benghazi and spoke at the RNC convention. she attacked hillary clinton and clinton did not "counter-punch" her. she let her say her peace and gave her sons memory enough respect to not respond. this is just red meat for his base. he isnt winning any over with this stunt. and i thought fiscal conservatives did not like the government wasting our tax dollars. well, thats all this stunt was. yall are good with your tax dollars being spent for a partisan political stunt. sad.
