If a 5 year old calls you a mean poopie head, are you going to kick them in the face to teach them a lesson? Judging by your response, you would.

No. It's people reaction to it that is at fault. It's just a song that meant little during football for most. Pride for some. Someone decided I won't stand because of their own political reason. And when someone who has much pride in the flag spoke to that protester, he understood. No more outrage. Just took a bit of understanding.

Then Trump came it and disrespect a basic Constitution right. You cannot have free expression! Which is a cornerstone of conservative until Trump got involved. Funny how that happen so often now a day. Strange isn't it? Of course, that's when many weight in, because quite a few of us are still very supportive of that basic right.

u mad, bro? That's what happens when you know you're wrong - you lash out in frustration like you just did. You're supposed to stand during the anthem - that's known by everybody. Nice try to rationalize. Failed, though.

Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury to ignore POTUS. After all, he does have that nuke button next to him. You go ahead and do that if you want.

We dont have to ignore Trump. However we can ignore his stupid tweets that pertain to nothing important. Like the NFL.

Trump is not a dictator and you know this. If you really think Trump is going to light up a nuke because someone in the NFL offended him, you need to go stand with the 9/11 truthers, flat earthers, and all the other nutty conspiracist. All you're feeding into is Trumps little man syndrome. All while you're busy worrying about Russia Russia Russia and the NFL and the anthem, we are escalating the situation with North Korea. Stupid childish drama is distracting us from real concerns. And all you're doing is justify why we should be distracted by childish tweets.

Complete political stunt. Press traveling with the VP was told to stay in the van as he'd be leaving the game early. It was the 49'ers on top of that...the only team to have had at least 1 player kneel every game since this all started last season. Pence knew exactly what was going to happen and had this all mapped out. He had no intention of staying at the game.

Wonder how much this trip cost just to make a pathetic attempt at scoring a cheap political point.

The NFL tv contract is in effect through 2022. It's not impacting the NFL at all in the present, wrt television.

No, of course he's not. I'm showing you what kind of power he has. You can't compare him to a 5 years old (I mean you can), but you can't expect that we do not respond to someone in his position. His words and actions have real effects. They aren't empty. They reach millions. The ideas behind his expressions shape the future of our nation, of many folks, and of many followers. Certainly there are things you just laugh at, but there are certain things, such as a basic right, that you have to stand up for. It is much more than him that I'm concern about. No, I don't think he's smart enough to be a dictator, but with the population turning away, lowering the bar more and more, there is a danger that a shift of standard occurs to the point where the unexpected do happen. And if it does happen, I fully expect Trump to ride along and not have a single concern about how damaging he's to the US. I see that as a very small, but real danger and I think many folks do too.

Is the 5 year old the president of the United States and has the clout and bully pulpit that comes with being the President of the United States?

All the Russian trolls on the internet keep pushing that false narrative. Football is doing just as good as ever (and I'm not even a fan LOL)

I agree it was a stunt, but the timing was such that he theoretically could have stayed for the whole game (or the vast majority of it) and still made his California visit.

Not sure how serious you are, but those types of things are relatively easy for a VP.
