My theory: Trump tends to make whatever he is associated with have about 40% approval rating just like he has.

Looks like the boycott didn't really happen. NFL still king. Not too surprising. Meanwhile, Trump rating... bust.

National anthem protests don't appear to be hurting NFL ticket sales

WASHINGTON - It's still early in the process to get a full grasp of how the NFL national anthem protests are going to affect the league, but it certainly has been something that sparked conversation.

President Trump's base of supporters and those who take offense to players who take a knee during the anthem — a protest started by then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to call attention to racial inequality and police brutality — have made their feelings known about their displeasure, some even calling for a boycott.

Is that having an effect? Not really, according to ticket brokers.

i mean no **** its not going to affect it. Tell me how many people here will legitimately boycott the super bowl all together...? None. Stop your b****ing and don't watch the NFL if you're serious about it.

NFL ratings are down and NFL owners make most of their money from TV deals, not ticket sales. NFL favorability has dropped to less than 40 percent in the last few weeks. The anthem is definitely the cause of it. You can deny it all you want but the boycott is impacting the league and owners are taking notice.

30 percent of NFL fans are watching less - and most blame anthem protests

AP-NORC Poll: Most disapprove of NFL protests -- and Trump comments

I love how people just cherry pick articles to support their beliefs. The first two results and many more are stating majority of fans are against it. And yes, there are others that are contradictory.

The NBA, which is more forward thinking than NFL and MLB, are discouraging their players from doing this. I think its safe to say the 'majority' of fans want to keep politics out of their games.

I don't like football (super minority opinion), so if indeed NFL take a dive and NBA replaces that - all cool. But of course, the data is early and who called BOOM with the cherry picking? Someone didn't call that out, but now...

BTW, we all know this. It wasn't much of any politic until Trump made it so. Everything he touches becomes divisive and pretty mess up.

As far as the NBA, they had the same policy forever.

If you want to truly take politic out of sports, don't play the anthem. Do sport, not nationality pride.

I think both sides are dumb on this issue. I think players would be better served protesting off the field and I think those against these protests are just hiding behind faux patriotism. Freedom is the ability to be able to stand in line for a beer or blast a dook during the pledge.

...and for the cherry on top, now Kap is saying he'd stand for the anthem if he lands a job!

    Victory: Trump.

    Respectful.

    Disrespectful.

When a football player is injured. Respectful.

Apparently you're only an a$$hole when you kneel during the national anthem. It's respectful to kneel when a player is hurt or the almighty God is praised but ******* you if you so much as bend the knee during an anthem you unpatriotic scum. It's funny to think that the religious right thinks it's reverent to kneel to a deity that is the supposed creator of everything but they place our nation on a pedestal above even that. #GodblessAmericaryte? Let's make this a 100 page diatribe over acceptable social norms some more.

pence was in attendance at the colts game without LUCK at qb SAD! but he left after the players knelt then tweeted about that's why he left. can't embed tweets on my smartphone. I suck at it.

I would bring a pastor or priest on to the field, kneel and pray during the anthem. see how they would spin that.
Funny thing is no one is disrespecting being american, but for the right for all to be treated as americans, which is the more american than america itself.

Now it's just a pissing contest for trump and for the players. Trump's greatest gift is bringing everyone down, setting it on fire and somehow walking away untouched.

What are you going on about church and kneeling?

Whether you disagree with Kaepernick or not, he did it for social justice. He at least had some respect about it.

These rest of these clowns are only doing it in response to Trump's childish tweets. They are just as sensitive as Trump is. Again, keep the mud slinging politics out. Nothing good will ever come from acting like Trump.

Yea.... they are protesting a man who never served in military telling them how to be patriotic. If Trump wasn't president and tweeting that BS no one would be protesting.... You do understand that right?

Is Trump a fake patriot using the troops and anthem as a political prop? Or just as a distraction?

Its not that he's untouched. Its he has no dignity and nothing is too low for him. Its always a loss going up against people who have nothing to lose.
