Not sure what's going on, if anything. A friend of mine is working the late shift. One of his co-workers' dad called and told her that when she got off, to go home and not leave the house. He's an officer at the military base here. According to him, armed and armoured troops have been deployed to downtown Austin. Anyone know if this is true? I hate spreading 3rd hand rumors, but I'm kind of freaked out. Maybe they're just protecting potential targets w/o any immediate threat. Info would be appreciated.
As long as the national guard stays away from 6th street or any other areas that real people frequent then I'll be happy.
Aha... must be guarding the physics facilities at UT. Or maybe the state capitol. I figured that's what it probably was... ... just kind of weird that an officer told his daughter to stay at home because of it. Thanks for the link, RH.
Maybe the troops just wanted to get loaded on 6th. Let's see...Tuesday night drink specials....I think just about every bar has $1 beers tonight.
