Trivia question 1: How many championships did the Rockets win without Hakeem Olajuwon? Trivia question 2: How many Rocket players were named Finals MVP besides Hakeem? Trivia question 3: Which Rocket player leads the team all-time in scoring? Trivia question 4: How many professional sports titles did Houston win before the Rockets in 94 and 95? ------------------ Protrolls.com! ZRB, I like Dream, met him, got his autograph, a real class guy, Dream means a lot. Believe it! but I'd rather have him out the door if he will be a future liability to the team. ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
Which player on our team only played 58 games last season? Which player on our team will likely play less than that this next season? Which player on our team has a very good chance of having a serious injury next season that stops him from playing another season, despite the fact that he will still be making 7-9 million dollars (if signed to the reported deal)? ------------------ Rockets need power forward. The Oilers won the AFL championship in 1960 and 1961. I believe the Aeros won 3 World Hockey Association championships in the 70s. Hmmmm, perhaps the Texans ought to sign George Blanda. The Houston Buffs minor league baseball team won a number of championships. All of the teams I mentioned were professional sports teams based in Houston. ------------------
So you think the Rockets should continue to pay whatever that player demands until he decides its time for him to retire thus jeapardizing the ability to build a championship team for the future? I am a Rockets fan first and I think his contract demands will hurt the Rockets ability to acquire younger players needed to build another championship team. ------------------
I was just watching Game 7 of the '94 finals and bob costas handled that: "The city does not have a mojor championship from a league still in existence." ------------------
I do believe the IHL still exists. ------------------ Rockets need power forward. Mo near now. Go near Mo. You can Run from the bet, you can Rave at the bet...but you just can't hide.
I guess if Clyde wants to come back we should sign him as well... ------------------ President of the CC.net Realist Club, everyone needs a dose of reality once in a while...
1. zero 2. zero 3. Hakeem! 4. zero 5. Who is responsible for "Clutch City"? 6. Who is responsible for Rudy's nice house? 7. Who was responsible for Kenny Smith and Vernon Maxwell not having to go on food stamps? ------------------ "I guess that's YOUR theory"
7. Seems like half the NBA has shelled out a couple mill to Vernon Maxwell at various tmies . ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
This is irrelevant. Dream is being all business, so so must we. ------------------ It was the time of the preacher, in the year of '01 Now the preachin' is over, and the lessons begun . . .
That was because of Hakeem. Remember the Rockets bought him for 25K. ------------------ "I guess that's YOUR theory"

ZRB, Im happy to see a fellow Dream idolizer. The answer to your questions are...Hakeem can do what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants...because us Rockets fans should treat him like our parents. With out him we would not be here. ------------------ "I can honestly say I feel I guarded the man pretty well, but the guy is playing better than anyone I have seen in a long time" David Robinson on The Dream 95
I have to agree with The Freak. Kenny can only talk smack to Charles on TNT because of Hakeem. I once thought that I was a Rockets fan but I now realize that I am an Hakeem Olajuwon fan. Whatever team he goes to will be my favorite team. I know that is heresy on this site but that is the way I feel. I understand the loyalty of all the posters to the Rockets and I know why all of you are upset. I have been upset that he is leaving as well, but I have decided to follow Dream. I will still root for the Rockets and I will support them but I guess they will only be my 2nd favorite team from now on. It is kind of scary knowing that I will have to adopt a new team to enjoy. I sure hope that it does not turn out to be the damn Jazz or the Lakers. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Ranger11 (edited July 17, 2001).]
The Rockets don't win Game 1 in the NBA Finals against the Magic without Kenny Smith. Dream played a huge part in the championship teams, but he needed the Mario Elie's and Sam Cassell's as well... ------------------ President of the CC.net Realist Club, everyone needs a dose of reality once in a while...
