If anything, Robertson's competition was better than that of today's players because the talent pool was less diluted. The players might not have been as athletic, but they were definitely more skilled. ------------------
I understand that the talent was more condensed, due to a smaller number of teams, but the talent level was not the same. Today's players are at another level than those of the past. Can you honestly tell me that one of the Celtics teams from their dynasty years could beat say our Rockets? The Rockets would kill them. Also, though the talent may have been more evenly distributed, the difference between a great player and an average player was MUCH greater than it is today. Chamberlain and Robertson were going up against inferior competition and defensive schemes. The stars of yesteryear would not be stars in today's game, with perhaps a few RARE exceptions, and would more likely be scrubs or not even in the league.
