How about playing Ming at PF, Cato at C, and Griffin at SF. The line up would be a shot blocking/defensive machine. You would not have to worry about too little ball to go around. Cato and Griffin don't demand the ball a lot. Ming has a nice mid range jumper and could play the high post. Take a page from Utah's book and run the pick and roll between Francis and Ming. Put Mobley on the strong side wing, Grif on the week side wing, and Cato on the weak side block. This team has a lot of options with their current roster, but I like this lineup.
Man I've been looking at that, and been drooling about the line-ups! If you want pure size and height, you can go with Cato, Ming and Griffin. If you want athleticism, offense, shooting ability, and the ability to break down opposing frontcourts, you can go with Ming, Griffin and 6-9 Nachbar. Or for pure offense and speed, you can go with Mo, Nachbar, and Ming, or if you want offense with shot-blocking, Mo, Griffin and Ming, even though Nachbar is a fair shot-blocker. This team is DEEP, and if they buy into Rudy's defensive scheme, the sky's the limit. All I know, is that this team looks like a playoff team to me!
When they say Ming is quick, they mean for a center. I don't think he would be fast enough to defend guys like Wallace, Duncan, Dirk, KG, Brand, and McDyess. But, if you put Cato on the PF, that would make one hell of a defensive lineup if you need to shut the other team down right away.
didn't u see ming on that video where he stole the ball at half court and out run a guard/forward down for a dunk.....i think he has decent speed....
What I'm most excited about is the versatility this team has. We can go from a big lineup of PG Francis SG Nachbar SF Griff PF Cato C Ming to a small lineup of PG Mooch SG Francis SF Cat PF Thomas C MoT Thats not even using the talents of a Mo Taylor or Glen Rice.
Htownhero: What I'm most excited about is the versatility this team has. We can go from a big lineup of PG Francis SG Nachbar SF Griff PF Cato C Ming wow...a 6'9" SG, a 6'10" SF, a 6'9" PF and a 7'5" C...I like that...
