Crossed paths with Johnny at Allen's Landing, behind Love Street Light Circus, where I saw him play a few times, but I can't say that I knew him. Just some social interaction of the kind we had back then. Both were/are great musicians and very freaky looking! As a guitarist, Johnny is brilliant. Edgar plays several instruments, and is pretty good himself.
