It depends on when you are going. If you want to see a lot of wet t-shirt contests and girls flashing on the beach go in March. If not, go some other time. the Mexican boarder is an easy trip for shopping.
What clubs are good to go to here? The guy to girl ration seems really bad. Spending in 10 bucks to be surrounded be a bunch of guys sucks.
Be sure to go to Matamoros. There is this really happening alley between The Black Cat and Mary's, across from Blanca White's. Most people have a blast there. Mark Kilroy said he died and went to Heaven.
That was cold of you. Watch out...you might run into some of his friends here. Obviously, he said nothing of the sort considering he was tortured to death and cut up by satanists. That is a permanent stain on South Padre and Matamoros that will not go away. The unthinkable happened.
Definitely check out Matamoros. I'm not sure how much it cost now, but 8 years ago the bars were all you can drink for like $7. Then after you get nice and drunk stumble down the street and be sure to get electrocuted by the battery guys. It's also fun to get a USA, USA, USA chant going while waiting to get back over the border at the end of the night. Good times.
You don't need your passport to go to Matamoros if you walk or drive across the border -- you only need it if you're flying into Mexico from the US. All you need is your Texas ID.
You must have one night at least in Matamoros -- basically hit the beaches during the day and head into Mexico at night. Expect drunken chaos.
Get piss drunk on the beach (kegs are readily available everywhere), take a video camera and get lots of girls to flash their zoomers for you, drink, drink, drink, piss in the ocean, hook up, drink some more, pass out, wake up, drink, drink, drink, puke in the ocean, drink, drink, hook up, video girls flashing their cans, pass out, drink....... Repeat all these steps throughout the week and you should fit in just fine. Have fun.
there used to be only 2 clubs on the island - Louie's backyard and Charlie's. I think Charlie's closed down but was replaced by something else. thats pretty much it, i think.
THREAD BUMP I saw where SouthWest is offering $51 each way to Harligen if you go on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Are the beaches good there? Is it a good place to relax for a couple days? Hows the golf?
Man.. South Padre is only good to go to during Spring Break (If you're under 30)... (or if you can pass as being in your 20's) Went 2 Spring Breaks ago... very naaace!
Spring break '05 I busted my chin open on a mechanical bull. If you care too much about pride, you'll hold on to a bull to beat a record that will mean nothing the next morning. And the ambulance will talk you into a ride then charge you an assload for it. You'll also call everyone you know wasted from the "emergency room" to tell them what a good time you're having. Also, more embarrassingly, your friends will coin the term "cell phone dance." Oddly, you'll remember none of it. Except the good times and the morning after.
Btw if you're going there on Spring Break, be sure to hit the gym a few months before.. cus I went there and damn everyone was RIIIPPEED and I was this scrawny little flat chested kid.
