I need to pick up some furniture in the San Antonio and Austin area in the next few weeks and was planning on trying to fit it in my truck. I'd feel much more comfortable and safer though if I rented a trailer. Problem is, my truck doesn't have a hitch on it.

Anybody know where I could get a really good deal on a hitch (+installation) for a Tacoma? I'm really looking to minimize my costs as much as I can because all this furniture I'm getting is free...and if I have to spend alot on a hitch I'm probably better off buying something used here in town. (I would probably benefit in the long run by getting a permanent hitch though).

    Thanks for the help.

For my Tacoma I just went to Walmart and bought the hitch for 10 bucks. Of course, I am assuming you are talking about a normal ball hitch, not a gooseneck.

I bought my hitch, ball, and drawbar(?) off of etrailer.com and installed the hitch myself. I paid UHaul to mount the ball to the drawbar, as well as add the electrical plug for the taillights. It was less than $200 total, for my 4-door sedan.

I don't know about the Tacoma, but if you just need the ball it will be a lot cheaper. It's probably already pre-wired for the electrical connections.

Well I have a ball...and I could just mount it to the bumper..but it looks like Uhaul requires a receiver to be mounted underneath the bumper if you want to rent a trailer from them...so that's what I'm looking at. I thought about All Out Off Road or Trailer Wheel and Frame among other places...I suppose I could order online but I'd have to do next day air..cause I need to get this done before next weekend.

Actually U-haul is one of the better places to get a hitch. It should cost you around 130 for everything.

And that's for a permanent hitch, not just to rent it?
