I'm a big Neil Marshall fan, really enjoyed Dog Soliders, The Decent and Doomsday, so I've been looking foward to this since it was announced a while back, looks like The Warriors meets the 1st scene from Gladiator... Britain, A.D. 117. Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, marches north with General Virilus' legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1020558/plotsummary <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k6eJf4tukWw&rel=0&color1=0x220011&color2=0x660022&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k6eJf4tukWw&rel=0&color1=0x220011&color2=0x660022&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
looks interesting on a side note: i was always under the impression that the picts were dark skinned, not like the ones shown in this.
Looks badass. About time someone made a movie about the Picts. They were insanely bad to the bone. It's funny how the trailer paints them as the bad guys, when the Romans were the invaders. They played the Monguls to the Roman's Chinese; the Romans built a huge wall that was the most fortified in Europe to keep the Picts from the southern Roman frontiers.
I am so tired of these imaginary hot female warriors in "ancient" movies. How about just a bunch of ugly dudes killing eachother like it really was
Plot looks interesting...Survivor dudes with only Earth for cover against many...I'm not sure it's more than rent quality though...
From what I understand is that the English see themselves as the cultural inheritors of Rome and classical Greece and prefer to identify with that rather than as the descendents of barbarian tribes like the Picts.
Well I doubt a lot of people would go see a movie with warriors with small pox scars, rotting teeth and all the other things that modern medicine and hygeine have done away with.
i think i'll wait for DVD for this one. something about the story and visuals seems too cliched to spend $11 in the theater for.
