http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/morenews/6017721.html It usually takes me 20 minutes to get home from work. It took me an hour longer yesterday and the day before. I don't know if I can do this until November.
Ugh, tell me about it!! It took me 30 minutes to get to work...when it should be about 15 min. It took me 45 minutes after work. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/morenews/6017721.html Sadly, it won't be normal until November. I dread going to my hair salon on 45 south after work when all G town people are going home today.
From what I hear the timing of the street lights on Westheimer is jacked up again, so we're back to the good ol' daily parking lot for a while.
Yep. I work from home so I never experienced the traffic - until I left work early yesterday at 5pm to go for a run at Memorial Park (live next to the Galleria). What is usually a 10-15 minute drive in normal 5pm weekday traffic ended up being a 45 minute drive. I was flabbergasted!
What the hell is up with 45 Gulf going North bound in the mornings?!?!? Traffic was backed up all the way to the Beltway today by Almeda mall!
Can they please start charging for the tollroads already so it doesn't take my husband over an hour to get home.
Why in the world have the HOV lanes been closed? Is it because of the power being out and those illuminated red and green lights not being on? Seriously, just close the gates. We don’t need those stupid lights anyway. Any idiot can tell that the HOV lanes go towards downtown in the mornings and away from downtown in the evenings. Not that difficult to figure out, lights or no lights.
ima_drummer2k, a quiz for you: what about on the I-10 freeway before the tollway was put into place on Saturdays and Sundays? Which way does it go? Answer, please. Inbound on I-10, easy peesy. Outbound on I-10, nightmare. I wished construction crews or METRO or whoever is responsible for opening up closed lanes gets off their butts soon. A breakdown of the I-10 between 610 and the Beltway ^N =========================== --------------------------- not being used... man... - - - - - - - not being used (wtf?) --------------------------- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <- jammed all day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <- jammed all day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <- jammed all day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <- HOV - open to Metro only ============================ TOLLWAY Metro buses only -> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - really fast lane ====> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - fast lane ==> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - fast lane ==> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - slower, but still fast --> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - slower, but still fast --> ============================ What gives, METRO?!?!?! Hurry your ass up!
yeah, i agree! lanes on both sides of beltway 8 between 290 and i 10 are JAM packed...it took me a while to figure out why they were so jammed. damn free tolls!
I-10, which normally takes me about 35 minutes from Grand Parkway/Fry area to the Galleria, took an hour and 10 minutes this morning. It was backed up all the way to Fry and I-10. Not looking forward to the drive home at all tonight. I'm about to go ask my manager if I can leave at 2 and work from home until this is resolved. My nerves can't take much more.
I hate it, the free tolls are screwing up my schedule. 4 days out of the week I take West Park Tollway and Alief-Clodine Rd to get to school, and it takes me an hour just to get to class. I'm not a big fan of having to leave the house 40 mins earlier than I usually do.
^ Yeah, RM95, WTF was up with that...? All the roads leading to I-10 were jam-packed, too, and I saw all traffic signals working at around the Wal-Mart/Home-Depot intersections. Was there even a report as to what caused that? I got on I-10 at GreenHouse Rd., and was able to get on the HOV (I had both my girls) and then suffered delays only from Hwy 6 to Kirkwood. Leaving at 2 won't help anything. It will only get you home sooner, but... oh, never mind, I see you are suggesting working from home. You just gave me an idea. Take a chill pill.
Yes, it is. I tried to go somewhere during lunch at around 2:30'ish, but when I saw it jammed I turned back to go to work. keep an eye out for the jam at http://traffic.tamu.edu.
