It's amazing how everyone thinks that every Rockets player is going to be traded because of some of the silliest things. Our team would not have a single player currently on this team, if everyone was traded that people on this board have thought were about to be traded for one odd reason or another
I think he is likely to be here after the trade deadline. If someone wants him as part of a trade package which can upgrade the team, that's fine with me.
better chance chase gets traded, adelman becomes enraged and yanks him out now when he screws up on defense; which is every game.
clutch eluded to this earlier and i agree, i think he isn't playing in order to keep his value low. if he plays and goes off, teams will ask for him to be included in any upcoming trade.
If the goal is to win games, that is just plain stupid. If they ask you just tell them no he is not available.
life is not that simple and he doesn't increase our ability to win a game now. his potential indicates he could be able to help us in the future. add in that he has had very limited practice time with the team and it's very easy to see why we can justify holding him out. currently, he has the highest upside potential of pretty much any rocket. that is not something we want to give away for another role player.
True. I've really never understood the whole, "He's not playing because Morey is stashing him so other teams don't ask about him." argument. All Morey would have to say to any teams inquiring about Terrence's availability is "No." Really not that hard. Every other team in the NBA does it all the time. Apparently we've done it pretty recently with guys like Martin and Brooks. At this point, I'm not sure what in the world is going on. I understand that Adelman probably trusts guys like Chase more than Williams, but we gave up a first round pick for this guy. If management thinks he can be a piece for the future, then I would rather them figure that out now. Is he going to get traded? No idea. But if he's just going to rot on the bench for the rest of the season, we might as well just ship him and see if we can get some real value back. Someone that the coach will, y'know... Play.
He's been on the team for roughly a month now. Adelman's system is relatively complex, but it ain't rocket science. And if its true that Terrence has the most upside on the team currently, then its going to waste on the bench.
This gets said about every thread here. I totally get it. I get that Terrence is a guy that this team has invested in for the future. I get that he's got two guys ahead of him at each of the positions he can play that the coaching staff knows and trusts more than him. I also understand that he hasn't had that much practice time. He should still be getting playing time. Even if it's less than ten minutes a game. Even if it's in the D League. Let the guy get some reps, and lets see what we have. I really don't think it's doing anyone a service, be it the Rockets or Terrence himself, to just have him sitting game after game. I felt the same way when TuPat wasn't playing (until he was sent to the D League,) and I'll feel the same way about the next rookie Rick does it to. Especially if that rookie is another lottery pick...
Again, you just say no if you dont want to trade him. If they feel he has that kind of talent, play him.
If you are Adelman, and you think Williams needs to work on parts of his game, but you think he is reluctant to do so, the only lever you have is playing time. I don't think it has to be any more complex than that. The problem is that some guys just don't have it in themselves to evolve. Those players, like Jermaine Taylor, end up consigned to the dustbin of history. Maybe Williams can't respond to coaching, but if that is the case he will never realize all that boundless potential, no matter what team he is on.
Do not worry about him. He is just not familiar with tactics. He needs more practice and Rockets game are always in clutch and do not let RA give him opportunity.
Changing one's attitude takes time and effort. Avery tried real hard, but he was traded to us before his attitude was changed. You heard him say how he still disagreed with being sent down to the d-league. He just doesn't see it. I say send his ass down there permanently, at least there he CAN be the alpha mouse.
