This is what it's starting to look like to me. He hasn't done a terrible job in his 3 games played. Yeah, he is currently shooting 38% from the field, but what the stats don't show is his defensive play while he is on the floor.
That game against Orlando, he along with the 2nd group, played good defense. To the point where they had to bring the starters back in. My point is, his defense alone should get him playing time. Just like tonight, we all expected him to play because of the absence of Martin. Although we won, it would have been good to see him play. At one point during a timeout in the 4th, he was standing behind the crowd looking off somewhere while the coach was going over a play. This after being one of the top cheerleaders the other night against Utah. He's frustrated and i understand why.
Were those three games just showcasing or was Adelman really trying to give him time. It's hard to tell these days.

I still see him as a part of our future. They're going to make a point guard out of him. The guy that is going to get traded is Chase. He's a one way player and Brooks is a superior one way player.

If the guy could get 6-8 minutes a game until he catches on, that would be great. Ecspecially with Martin out tonight. It just seems a little suspect.

If he does better in practice, his minutes will increase gradually.

He seems to be an overdribbler to me, really plays the game like a pickup game, I would imagine that a coach like Adelman loathes that sort of approach, he likes quick passes and quick decision making.

I just don't see the Rockets trading away a first rounder to get Williams and trade him. Unless of course it's in a deal to acquire a superstar.

Williams is on contract for next year, plus a team option for 2012-13, so that's still a full 2.5 years for him to stick around. Unless he Joey Dorsey's himself out of consideration.

My thoughts too. Not enough practice, doesn't know the O, so he tries to do what he can...which is improvise. That's why he looks lost sometimes.

I don't think they are looking to trade him, he just doesn't fit yet.

There's nothing suspect about it. Adelman isn't just going to insert a player onto the floor in the middle of a game he's trying to win just to give him minutes. He's got a rotation, and he's going to play it.

I said it soon after the trade, and actually I believe Morey said the same thing in a recent interview: the Rockets basically view this as Williams' rookie season. There's no hurry to play him right now. He needs to keep practicing, keep learning, and be ready when his number is called. He'll get his chance -- eventually.

All i'm saying is, Melo is still out there and like someone mentioned earlier, Williams is an asset. This is the trade season. Weirder things have happened.

The pick they gave up is protected through #18 until 2015 if I'm not mistaking. From now till then if we suck we keep our pick, and if we're a playoff team we give a high 1st rounder. If the team is lucky and TWill pans out great, if not they don't loose much.

Only star player i would give Williams up for is a Melo or Nash. His potential is too high to give him up for anything less.

I think the Rockets really like his talent, and they won't give him up so easily. A guard with his size and court vision is rare, plus can potentially be a very strong 2-way player.

I notice people mention things like, "if he does better in practice", I guess it's common sense to think that because he's not playing...but how do you know for sure? No one knows anything unless they are working for the organization.

Williams has to show patience. It's obvious the Rockets think highly of his playmaking skills, or else they wouldn't try to put him at the point-guard position with so little experience with the team, even for limited minutes.

I think the Rockets love that he has the size and versatility to play the 1, 2 and 3 spots, and if he can develop the right point-guard skills to go with that versatility, he'll be a great weapon for the team. But it probably takes some time to develop those skills.
