From what I heard from radio, Rudy doesn't sound too happy with EG's development. He sounds like he is really happy with Richard Jefferson. He said he is a good player. The trade may not happen this season but offseason may be the time. I don't understand why this organization often made bad decisions and regretted about them.
So are you a Nets fan? TROLL go home. EG will make Richard Jefferson an afterthought. Need game proof, write the NBA for a copy of the first quarter against the Magic. I would like to have seen Jefferson bring it to the hole on EG, the ball, and maybe even Jefferson would have been in the front row. EG isn't going anywhere. He better not.
Haha... if they intended to move EG, they wouldn't trade KT to free playing time for him. Don't be making stupid speculation.
I've been a big critic of EG this year and I don't even think there is any way you trade him unless it is a block buster like trade that would bring back a proven all star caliber power forward like Brand. As a 20 year old he could still turn into a special player down the line.
I also was hoping Eddie would be a little farther along right now too but if the Orlando game was any indication of what we are going to see out of Eddie and Yao. Whoa Nellie. That 1st quarter was as dominant an inside game one team had over another as I can remember. They had a combined 11 rebounds, 5-6 blocked shots and I think 13 points and Orlando never really went back inside the lane the entire game including McGrady after Eddie got him once or twice. He's definetely a work in progress but no way they get rid of him now. I get the impression the Rockets brass figures their future is all ahead of them which is one reason they traded KT and are going to give Eddie 20-30 minutes a game until he's comfortable. I'm also of the opinion that Eddie is still a very impressionable kid at 20 and he still defers his game to Steve, Cat or in other words his elders. What I remember of him when he's in his element (age bracket) like the summer games is he was a dominant player in fact he schooled Stoudemire and Gooden. The last 2-3 games is really the first time it seemed like he was really looking for his shot and not taking what the rest of the team was giving him. In the Golden State game he started taking Murphy down low but his shot just wasn't dropping. But when it did against Orlando he looked like a load to me. In fact I was surprised he didn't play a bit more in that game (26 minutes) after playing the first 14. I attributed that to the schedule with them playing 4 games in 5 days and not wanting to wear anybody to thin. There just aren't many 4's who have his shot blocking ability, there's no way they are going to get rid of him now.
NJ traded away Griffin because they had some doubts about him and really wanted Richard Jefferson. If Rudy is "unhappy with Griffin's development" while Jefferson has become an essential cog in the Nets machine with some legitimate All-Star consideration, why would the Nets want to swap them back again? Even if the Nets saw it was in their best long-term interests to swap back from Griffin, what sort of PR nightmare would that be: "Uh, fans, I know you've been saying for 2 years that we really pulled the wool over the Rockets' eyes by trading down in the draft and getting the superior player. And I know with Jefferson's play and all the All-Star votes and everything it sure looked that way. But, it turns out we were seriously wrong and this Eddie kid, though he's been inconsistent so far, is really going to blow up. We just didn't realize it back then." Besides that, even if Rudy was looking to trade Griffin -- which I seriously doubt (he did recently call him the future of the Rockets PF position) -- it would be the biggest humiliation of all to trade him for Jefferson. It would essentially be saying, "I screwed up bigtime." And even if he thought he did, he wouldn't say that. You'd trade him for some other, equally good small forward. What with Kenny Thomas going to Philly for Posey, Mo Taylor going to LA for Robert Horry ( ), and Eddie Griffin going to the Nets for Jefferson, the Rockets are going to have no power forwards and 9 small forwards.
Jefferson has been nurtured by a Point Guard, working his Team to make them better. Griffin is not being nurtured by anyone, especially a stats hungery ,spotlight seaking Steve Francis. No Griffin will take longer to unfold, slowly his personal strength and determination will lift him to the ranks of being called a 'Star'.
Griffin came into the NBA with very few offensive moves, raw athletic ability and a lack of real understanding about what it takes to be successful in this league. If he has not made significant improvements by the time he is due up for extension (2 years), you THINK about a sign and trade. As it is, if it weren't for all the injuries last year, Griffin wouldn't even have played until this season (see Bostjan Nachbar).
Why do people keep saying the Rockets made a bad decision trading Jefferson and it would be humiliating for them to admit they made a mistake trading Jefferson the Rockets DID NOT trade Jefferson. They traded the picks, and New Jersey told them who to draft and they drafted Jefferson. It's not like the Rockets drafted Jefferson and New Jersey said "Hey Jefferson is a mega-star, lets trade Griffin for him", and the Rockets said "Ok". In fact nobody thought Jefferson would be as good as he was, people thought he would be a solid roleplayer. Funny thing is when the Rockets drafted Jefferson I didn't hear people in the chat saying "Yes, we have our All-Star SF", I actually heard a lot of grumbling and people saying he would be a solid SF but people expecting more. In fact the chatroom and the BBS exploded when we got Griffin and I didn't hear one person complaining about trading the rights to Jefferson for Griffin. Trading Griffin wouldn't make any sense anyway, he's a shot-blocker and a rebounder, and I'd rather allow Griffin to develop and re-sign Posey then trade for Jefferson.
By the way artificial I'm guessing you're on borrowed times here. Clutch just went off on a tirade about a month ago about stupid and repetitive posts popping and rightfully so. This isn't exactly an informative and factual post.
I also heard on the radio that Rudy is very unhappy with the development of Joe Barry Carroll and that he's attempting to trade him to get Ralph Sampson back again. What a genius that Rudy is! In fact, maybe he can help the 'Stros get Curt Schilling and Luis Gonzalez back!
It seems to me (and evidently to a lot of others) that you had this half-formed thought rolling around in your head and decided to start a thread about it, trying to give it credibility by saying it was something you "heard on the radio." If that's the truth, what show was it on? Who said it? Rudy himself? A source close to the Rockets? A Nets fan who called in? If you're going to start a post after just joining this BBS, you better make sure that: * It's not vague or moronic (or both). * The topic hasn't been covered repeatedly in other threads (EG vs. Jefferson is old news around here). * You don't bring out the old "I heard it somewhere" crap. P.S. Kudos on the user name. "Artificial" is pretty appropriate.
Eddie has proved to me that he is up for the challenge and he can block anyone in the league at the age of 20... The Orlando game proved to me that he has raw talent and he is not even near his highest peak.. and already he helped us win with his presences. We turned Rashard down and im glad we did. Eddie is the best YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
