I saw it the way MacBeth did. I don't think he was actually proposing that trade.

For someone who never playd NBA ball at all, has had no NBA level coaching or training, is by far the best player on his team, allowing defenses to collapse around him, and not having guards able to get him the ball properly, what Ming did against anyone in the World games, especially against NBA players like O'neil, it's amazing.

Maybe, SRF, or maybe he came in here with a legit, even complimentary question (as if non-complimentary questions aren't legit) and was slammed repeatedly, so never bothered to respond. I have nothing definite to go on, but I don't think that his lack of follow-up confirms anything, and I think that if you were going to troll and run, you'd A) Be more obvious and derisive in your initial question, and B) be more likely to submit at least one "NAh! Nah! Rockets SucK!" follow up....

Basically, most of you are saying Ming is second only to Shaq at this point and you may not trade him for Shaq because of the upside and age.

I'd trade Ming for Pierce, because he's probably the most valued player on that team.

Then once we had Pierce, an extremely valuable trading commodity, I'd go after someone like Timmy D or Garnett, now that we had a good package to put together.

Not that I don't like Ming, cause I do! But I like the sure bet more.

Wow. Did you even watch the WC? WE are r****ded?
whatever. Having Shaq, on his decline, for 3 years, or having Ming for 10-15? Hmmm. THats a tough one. Sure we haven't seen Ming ACTUALLY play in the NBA, but after these WC games, if you can't see how good he is now and how great he can be, then you are clearly ignorant. What did Ming do against the other big men in the tourney? Again, did you even watch the games? There was no big man that could score more than 10 pts on Ming...huh thats what he did to Oneal...oh and he blocked Oneal's turnaround Hook/Jump shot which I thought was impossible until now. Ming is clearly an intimidator and a great team player. Jeez, you came out of lurker mode to post this crap?

Oh one last thing...Pierce and his ball club is .500 against the west. Last time I looked, thats where the rockets played. The JV...err east can make a lot of people look good. Why is everyone so high on pierce? Sure he's a good player that can be on fire at times, but no one remembers that his disappearance in the East Finals is one of the big reasons the Celtics lost. Same thing in the WCs...he looked great at times, then other times he disappears. And he's going to take us further than a great prospect that is 6-7 years younger? Anyways think about who is a better fit for this team...Pierce or Ming. If we traded then we would have Pierce at SF...another "star" who wants more shots and is good...not great, on defense. That would also leave us with Cato for center  . Everyone for Cato as center instead of Ming say aye!

I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to make it so obvious...sort of the ol gettinbranded method. You try to say just enough to illict a response, but not enough to get banned. It's possible that not everyone follows the absolute rules of Troll-dom.;)

The thread title of "Trade Yao Ming?" is quite derogatory to Yao Ming at this point, he didn't even play a single NBA game and people want to talk about trading him or not. How would you think if someone starts a thread with the title "Trade Francis?", "Trade Mobley?" or "Trade Eddie Griffin?" If the poster doesn't want them traded, why start a thread asking to trade them or not? Even if the poster meant the other way around, the wording is misleading to me.

I think the newbie is trying to say Ming's potential is worth more than any of the players on the current Team USA.

I also think most will agree that after Ming's performance in the World Championships that the Rockets did the right thing.

Now remember the trade proposal that had us trading Ming and Griffin for Tuncan? Would you do that now considering that Ming looks like he CAN play some ball.

Don't forget the finanical aspect of having Ming on the team. He brings the fans and that's worth something. Rockets had the lowest attendance last year. With Ming on board, I'm pretty sure that won't be the case. Imagine a full house cheering for the home team. Heck, imagine going in Golden State and a full house cheering the the Rockets!!! Or how about in New York/New Jersey and maybe even in LA.

And Ming's "breakdown" pretty much shows how much he wants to win. He has the skills, has the heart, has the love of the game. Did I forget to mention he's tall.

SO I ask again, is the 2 for 1 still a bargain for the Rockets? I know Ducan is good but he's going to be max next year. Ming won't be max until 4 years from now....

Having a possible 1.3 billion fans on our backs helping cheer the Rockets isn't bad either.

In some ways, when Ming reaches his full potential, I think he will be better than Duncan. (IMHO)

Ming has the potential to be better than Duncan in part because he is surrounded with better talent.

Not a chance. But there sure were a lot of people a couple of months ago that would have traded Ming(#1 pick) for just about anything.

I think the point is that out of your 60 current posts, you have contributed nothing, zilch, nada to any discussion on the BBS since you joined all of 2 months ago. At least Jrazz posted something of some worth...something to engage a discussion. He never said he wanted to trade Ming, but rather asked for opinions. I suggest in the future you check your own posts before declaring we should "kick his a$$ out now...." or we'll soon be kicking your ass out.

I think some of you haven't noticed that Paul Pierce averaged 26 points and 7 rebounds last season and O'Neal avearged 19 points and 10 rebounds. From a basketball standpoint I'd trade Yao for either of those guys. You're all swept up in potential and haven't addressed the dangers that exist for Yao. Players Yao's size frequently have foot/knee injuries and when you combine that with the fatigue that Yao will certainly encounter by having to play for his National Team every season then his risk of injury is even higher. It's a real possibility that in two or three years Yao will begin to fall apart physically. US players are exhausted by the time they finish one season of NBA/Team USA play and they're in a lot better physical condition than Yao is in.

Trade a 22 yr old rookie prospect that won BEST CENTER of WBC, that already has a billion fans behind him? What are we nuts? Even if he doesn't reach the potential of a Shaq, or Duncan, I can't imagine us trading away such an exciting player with an upside not just on the court, but also financially and politically. It's gonna be a hell of a lot of fun watching Yao grow in the league on the Rockets team, regardless if we reach a championship with him or not. IMHO, I think the Rox will eventually win the NBA title our young exciting roster. So I say we sit back and enjoy the ride. Besides, instant gratification is for the insidious types that find themselves all alone in a porno store.

So we should trade Ming because he might get hurt in the future?
Why did we even draft him then? Basically you're stereotyping Ming because of his size...a little hypocritical coming from you Timing.

Interesting. granted Paul Pierce is a scoring machine and O'Neal is a up and coming star. BUT you seem to forget one thing. While there are great individual players, I truly believe that they are not "team" players. They play for the money, the fame, the honors. Ming plays for the love of the game, to improve himself, to make his National Team better. He won't see his money and yet he's still coming to play. He cried after a lose that was in ways expected because the Chinese NT is not good (except for Ming). He is a team player and that makes him better than all the yahoos on the USA Team.

What did these stars on the USA Team do after they got their asses handed to them. Did anyone say they were sorry for letting the American People down? Sure it don't mean anything cause only the Olympic and the NBA Finals are worth something right? WRONG. They represented their country and were the heavy favorites because they were the team with the better players. They did not play like a team and lost.

If Ming was on the USA Team instead of O'Neal, would he still be the best center in the Tourney? YES, Would the USA still be undefeated? YES. That's because if the USA Coach see the way Ming performs and the USA guards see him perform, do you think Ming would get more shots and score more or get more assists? Would Ming have impacted the USA Team more than O'Neal???

As for the health issues, he's in training year round, that I think is actually pretty good. That helps his conditioning. If Cato was in training year round and getting better, I'm sure everything here in this BBS would be surprise and happy to heard it.

Injuries happen so that shouldn't even be considered. Ming is young and he's in good shape. Lot's of NBA players get injured so it's just a part of life. Look T-Mo got injured while playing a pick-up game and was lost for a year. Is T-Mo injury prone? Grant Hill was out for long periods of time for 2 years? Does that make Grant Hill a bad player? No.

The question was would not should. We drafted him for his potential and because our current center is a vegetable.

Do you mean to tell me that his size and commitment to year round basketball doesn't dramatically increase his chances of injury? Geez...

You guys are thie biggest group of homers and I love you. First you wouldn't trade Ming/Griffin for Duncan and now Yao Ming is potentially the greatest player in the NBA and Future Hall of Famer. Don't give me all this crap about nobody said that either. If you won't trade Ming for Duncan straight up you must think he is going to be the best player in the NBA.
I am a homer also but if San Antonio wanted Gasol for Duncan I would go pick Duncan up at the airport myself and Gasol is better than Ming.

Oh well. Good luck this season!
