This is mainly just for jokes, but I'm just wondering if it's even feasible. I know they did in the NFL with Tampa Bay and Oakland trading Coach Chuckie for Players, but if it was possible, I think my dream scenario would involve trading Van Gundy for Larry Brown. I think it'd be a win-win situation on both sides. Van Gundy gets some grizzled veterans and implements his hard nosed system and Larry Brown gets to have some fun ala early Phil Jackson style where he comes into an atmosphere with a couple of stars makes some tweaks, builds some confidence, and lets them play their game. This is not to say I'm against Van Gundy as I know injuries have hurt our team and we've had a new cast surrounding Yao and McGrady, but it would be fun to speculate on what direction another coach would take our team. Anyways, I'm glad we've finally figured out that a good passing big man should have the amount of touches Yao is getting now. Maybe the coaching staff is forcing our backcourt to watch old games where Dream dominated to show them how a big man can help the entire team. Hopefully, we won't veer to off this path next season and Yao will keep this aggression going into next season. Go Lottery Ball Go!
I know you're not serious, but some posters are...how do you expect a team to win when their best player has been injured? What has Utah and Jerry Sloan done since Malone retired? How about Larry Brown, Hubie Brown? Houston's biggest problem is not JVG -- it's the players. The sooner Houston finds a legitimate PG, SG, and PF (that's 3/5 of the starting lineup); people can stop the theatrical posts about firing JVG.
completely agree, JVG is doing OK.. he has to have a half court style because we have a good center and we need to feed him almost every time.. I've said this before, but I want to say it again.. a good coach is the coach that gets good players from nowhere (Popovich in Parker, Ginobli.. and D'antoni for House, Bell, Diaw..) and develops some kind of chemistry between them.. JVG made some good moves (except for getting Alston, waiving Barry, and trading Anderson for trash).. I think the Rockets should focus now on firing Thibodeax and Ewing because they are just wasting Yao's time on some Bull****.. we need a good mentor for Yao to help him develop new moves and help him in understanding the game more and more ( Hakeem, Kareem, Moses would be good)... Ewing was never a good player, he played dirty and always got away with fouls and played like a robot for Pat Riley... I mean, just look at Thibodeaux and Ewing in any game..they look clueless and they dont know what the heck is going on...
JVG does noe equal a hall of fame coach. JVG is also not the problem. I fully expect to Rockets to bounce back next year and JVG will get an extention at some point (lets predict all star weekend)
There are 2 "get rid of JVG"-type threads on the first page and another Fire JVG thread a page or two down...
