The Rockets don't need to move Williams this year. They can afford to see if he has finally adjusted to his teammates and the system, or if he reverts back to his play of early last year.

If he continues to play well offensively, then he'll be good for scoring off the bench when the Rockets acquire a small forward through the draft or free agency.

If not, then he can be moved more easily after this season is over when he only has 1 year left on his contract. He could be moved to a team that wants to free up cap space at the end of the following year.

At this point, I don't see the benefit of moving him, especially since the Rocket young guns really like him, unless it allows us to acquire a role player Rudy and CD have been eyeing.

Keep in mind, that even with his slow start last year, his overall percentages were good, which means he was hitting at a good clip down the stretch. That's just what you need coming off the bench on a future contender. Especially when you run into those 5 minute scoring droughts(sp?).

BTW-That doesn't mean you don't move him if you got the opportunity to dump his salary, I'm just saying it doesn't have to be this season.

Hooping, the reason that Webber is the answer and Walt is not has nothing to do with their ages. Webber is a superstar PF, Walt is an inconsistent role player.

I would love to sign a vet who plays hard on the defensive side of the ball. I think we need others, besides SA, who play hard on defense. Rather than Mullin I would love to look at Majerle. Problem is Majerle is playing for a ring and I doubt he would come here. Majerle plays hard on D, can still shoot and is now a good role model (yeah he did have a wild side in Pho w/ CB). Since Majerle won't come I would look at a blue collar PF.
Any chance we could trade Cato back to Portland for B. Grant? If O'neal leaves they need a backup, then we would have our PF and our C of the future in Pryz, oh never mind we traded Pryz for a guy that couldn't hack it in Indiana and then led Ga Tech to, well, he led them in scoring!

Rashard should be getting some offers that Seattle will have to match.>

If a team actually makes an offer to Lewis, it will be for an amount that Seattle is unable to match (since they're capped out). It wouldn't make any sense to offer Lewis an amount that Seattle could match.

Is there any way that Seattle could get far enough under the cap to match an offer? How far are they over? Is there any way that our trade exception could help them? Couldn't we take on Horace Grant or some other player with 1 year left? It wouldn't get us Lewis but I'd love to have Grant for a year and the cap space the following year. I'm probably way off on this stuff so someone help me if I'm being dillusional.
