Would you do this trade ?

    Howard - PF
    Wesley - SG
    Moochie - PG

    FOR

    Tim Thomas - SF
    Othella Harrington - PF

Tim has a big contract, however it ends at the end of the year. Othella can give us "=" to Howards output. We would not be taking too much of a gamble and would shake up the chemisty that we are lacking. Even with Tmac in the lineup , this team has too many issues. This move could move our team in the right direction.

This move would be good for the future but it would kill us now. Wesley is one of our few shooters left on this team. Thomas might help us when tmac is down, but becomes pretty useless after that. I would pull the trigger only if we received word that Tmac will be out for an extended period of time and we go into tank mode.

I doubt if TMAC can sustain until the end of the season with his back problem. I think we should get Spreewell instead.

Why would Chicago even do that trade?

Just to get rid of a disgruntled player (who he and the team agreed he could just go home with no distractions), they get another SG when they are already loaded in the backcourt, a useless PG, and an aged PF who has 4 years left on his contract.

Besides, the Rockets lose out talent-wise as well. Howard is an all-around better player than Harrington, and Thomas isn't any better (if not worse) than Wesley.

Chicago would hang up the phone quickly. They aren't looking to get rid of Thomas, they want to cash him in and be one of the very few teams under the cap next summer. They might move him, but only for a major name, preferentially a PF/C. A plausible example would be Carlos Boozer.

I swear, we need a subforum for the dreamcasters. Maybe call it "Sweet Jesus, I Thought They Were Kidding!"

    Evan

-edit- Just saw Paxson's quote that they would trade him. Somewhat strange for him to do so, since it automatically knocks out their leverage. Still, they won't dump him for just any warm body. Walking through potential suitors:

Posion contracts like LaFrentz are out, but a Hawks package featuring Harington might be feasible, KVH has a similar deal.
I'm alone here but I'd try to get out from K-Mart's stupid contract if I were Denver.
Including Troy Murphy would make Adonal Foyle worth it if Mullin wants to cut ($80 million!) salary, Brian Grant would be silly, Wally Z doesn't fill a real need, and Kings wouldn't dump Peja unless he starts nursing that hand through Feb.
PJ Brown and the Hornets make ton of sense, but the numbers wouldn't match up and OKC/NOH doesn't have anyone else to use in the deal.
The Knicks can't re-swap Davis for Thomas, but they may be able to use Penny. Not sure. Taylor and Rose wouldn't be considered by Paxson.
Theo Ratliff or Zach Randolph (seriously, he's a cancer despite those numbers) would be my offer if I'm Nash.
Jalen Rose isn't worth the headache.
Boozer makes a heap of sense, especially since Larry Miller despises his anti-Malone at this point.

I will likely get flamed for this, but Othella is a hard working player. He was one of Rudy's seldom recognized good draft picks as was Kenny Thomas and Cuttino. He came to Rockets camp every year in top shape and is deceptively strong. He is a stronger post player than Howard, and though his shot is not pretty in form - he can score consistently 8 points per nite. He can run and would be a good energy player off the bench and strong inside to help out Yao.

I do not care about Tim Thomas, but Othella would help us.

why is it low post count people are the ones proposing trades?

And I don't know what it is, why do we trade people away, just to get him back? Got mooch already, wanna make a move for Francis again? His worth might be lower now? sigh...

I abhor Tim Thomas. The guy needs to retire. He hasn't done jack since his Milwaukee days (heck, he stunk up the joint there in his last year as well).

Tim Thomas was always such a promising player -- but except before contract time -- he doesn't deliver. He is the poster child for unfulfilled potential. Fact is, he has no passion for the game and is a perenial problem child.

Milwaukee gave up on him. NY gave up on him. Chicago has really given up on him. Why does anybody think he will do great things for us? He has the height, quickness, range etc -- and if he really played like people know he can -- he could have the SF spot and we could move McGrady back to SG. However, like Elliott said to Greg in E.T., "This is reality."

Keep in mind the number of posters here that actually believed Swift was going to be an All-Star once he put on our uniform.

Othella- only 2" shorter than Cato with good hands and stamina, nearly as strong as Kenny Thomas, though less a ball hog. Rudy wanted to keep him, but Vancouver insisted he be included in the trade for Steve Francis. In '97 / 98 season when we were hurting for a big man due to injuries - missed games by Hakeem- Othella came through.

I'd do Yao for Ben Wallace, straight up, although I expect the salaries wouldn't work.

    And I bet Detroit wouldn't...

If Chicago is interested in adding some beef to their lineup & sliding Chandler back over to the PF position, then maybe this 3 way trade could get it done.

    Houston sends Howard to NY.
Houston sends Moochie/Wesley (expiring contract) to Chicago.

NY sends Jerome James to Chicago.

Chicago sends Tim Thomas to Houston.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist. It's been a long time since I proposed a trade. :D

On Real GM it says NY Knicks -Mr. Isiah Thomas is interested in Tim.
Could we get Isiah to get Othella too and we trade Moochie and a case of Mountain Dew for Othella?

    1. Knicks are not allowed to trade for Thomas back until next summer.
    2. Thomas has let reporters know he's not as interested in a Knicks reunion.
