This may be a stupid question but, would you trade Shane Victorino, Yunel Escobar, and Bobby Jenks for Elvis Andrus, Justin Upton, and Adam Jones??? I'm asking this because Jenks is my 2nd and ONLY closer. I have Lidge on the DL but I basically have one reliever.
Would any one do... I trade - Albert Pujols I receive - Berkman, Matt Garza, Jose Valverde He offered me Pujols for Berkman straight up (probably as a joke), but I'm thinking of countering with this. I'm hurting pitching wise with the s**tty starts from Lester, Wandy, & Javier Vasquez.
Nope, wouldn't do it. Lester, Wandy and Vasquez are good. They'll pick it back up. I certainly would never trade Albert Pujols as a knee-jerk reaction. If Berkman produces very well from here on out and his knee proves to be sturdy and you desperately need a closer, then you might consider it. But right now? Reject, reject, reject. Pujols is guaranteed fantasy gold.
Have you tried getting "temporary" closers like Neftali Feliz (he'll probably own the job anyway) and Fernando Rodney (though he might just be closing until Wednesday)? I never really draft closers very high because many lose their jobs mid-season and I can simply grab their replacement. Keep a close watch on who replaces who.
Chris Perez is another "temp"... and of course John Rauch, but he's probably taken since he's the permanent closer for Minnesota this season.
