MDA was as awful as Harden was the last 2 games of this series. Harden was ABSOLUTELY PITIFUL in game 6 but Popovich embarrassed MDA.
I am not just going to assume that we agree on matters. The duo that brought flawed MDA and mentally suspect Harden was Morey and Alexander who sat in the same boat. They are going about it the wrong way and no wonder our seasons are either average or an up and down roller coaster. I am disappointed yes but I also get it, you can go back and I have already said it a thousand times that change has to take place at top. There is complacency here or homerism that is unbearable. I do not expect championships right away of course, I expect change! I expect greatness either in achievement or in planning. I have seen nothing constructive in end results every playoff year. The team is grasping little. MDA always has been good but never great. Why is that? Because we have an average owner, an above average GM on bad days and a good one on good days. Everything from management down to the team is good at best and average at worst. There will be no greatness in that, my friend. You have to either uproot it or pray that the Warriors and Cavs' rosters will be annihilated by a meteor! As a fan I can live with that but the competitor in me wants more!
If you've seen "nothing constructive", then I simply cannot help you, my friend. As for the Warriors and the Cavs....that meteor is pretty much what 28 other teams are hoping for as well.
Sure. I applaud what they did year in year out in regular season mostly but how can a team give up so easily in the playoffs? 40 pts deficit in an epic game? I think at home. Without Parker and Kawhi. That game alone destroyed any good feeling about defeating Westbrook.
I'm not disagreeing with you. It's a performance that will stain the Rockets history for the rest of our days, and I don't think that's dramatic. We'll always remember this one. No doubt about it.
Like I said earlier, get Harden outta Houston. The culture here needs a change. Keep MDA, hes a good coach. Morey may need to go. I want to see a blue collar hard working roster again
If we could get a bunch of high draft picks I'd be down for a trade. I don't think Harden has the mental fortitude to lead this team to a championship.
I'd rather cheer for a mediocre team made up of guys who I like and respect that work hard (Scola, Battier, AB, Sura, etc...) than be jerked around by some narcissistic diva who's gonna just quit, give a cop out like "just couldn't get in a rhythm" and then go partying... ...but maybe thats just me...
I've been a Rockets fan for 30+ years... I aint let this asshat run me off... Unlike Jimmy harden - I'm not a quitter...
On Less and Morey I was being largely sarcastic, but I am dead serious about Harden. This has happened multiple times. I would like a drug test also. Something is not right. When he set the record on turnovers against GS a couple years ago in the playoffs he looked stoned, hung over, or both. Last playoff game against SA, same thing.
The thought actually occurred to me that he thought he was doin a lil bump to get amped and focus in for the game... but it was something else.... folks have said he seemed stoned... as many theories that are floating.... this would explain a lot... poor play, body language, disinterested... Please note I'm not making any accusations or claims - just trying to figure a plausible explanation....
Lol Morey is average at best? The guy assembled one of the first big 3s in McGrady, Yao, and Artest which never formulated due to injuries. Brought in a top 5 player in the league for a bag of peanuts, all while retooling from Yao and McGrady's contracts. Brought in the best center in the league the next year. When that center declined due to unforeseen injuries, he retooled again in one offseason to put together a respectable 50 win team with journeymen that nobody wanted. There's really not much more you could ask of the guy when you have 4 of most talented players in the NBA deciding to play together on the Warriors, and a Spurs team that has a system and personell that's been in place for decades going up against a first year system. I get the frustration, I'm right there with you. But putting these things on Morey is the absolute wrong way to go, as we've seen how many teams have **** GMs who keep their team in a perpetual state of mediocrity. Most GMs would do that with their team if they only had one star like we do. That's why stars leave. There's a reason Harden decided to re-up on that contract and stick it out long term.
Above average at WORST and ok or good at best I said. There is no frustration in saying Morey does not represent the Rockets enough for me. He is on his own, he is trying to help I admit but I am growing to dislike him.
If one truly gives everything then there is nothing left to give. That is what happened. The 7 man rotation, lack of bigs and over achievement is what we all saw. Good season. Proud to be a Rocket fan.
I peruse a lot of other teams boards and what they all recognize that apparently we have forgotten since the mediocrity treadmill and the three years in a row of the #14 pick is that without a star you are going nowhere. And even with a star like Lillard or AD or KAT you could still not go anywhere. You won't get equal value back and we would be right back to the tail end of the lottery praying to land the next Harden. As angry as perplexed as I am with James this team is still top 5 in the league as constructed and everyone is under contract for another run. You try and add another star like Paul George or Griffin or Hayward which is very feasible given this teams success, no state tax, etc.
