Yes I did... and yes he can be a great passer at times and yes he can break good defenses in a hurry... BUT.. let me ask you this: How many times in a season does he play a complete game like that? even last season? NOT MANY. I agree that he is capable of doing everything a PG should do, however, CAN is not the question. It's the consistency that matters a lot at that position. He can have 10 assists game and then follow that game with 1 assists... that is a disaster. And, as I said, If he changed his attitude towards the game meaning be the passing first guy in the starting lineup and create shots for Marin/Scola, I will be very happy to see him in the starting lineup. Although, looking at his past, I expect that if he moves to the starting lineup, he will take away shots from Martin/Scola, which is bad for the team. So yes! HE CAN BE A PERFECT PG... in fact, better than lowry...condition is he plays with brain and sacrifice shooting... and have some consistency... If he is going to remain like he is right now... I think he is best suited in a role where he has full freedom of taking shots... He can be a great starter with some changes.... if he does not wanna make changes and be the first option.. then bench is better for him.
Isn't the OP the same guy who advocated starting Budinger when he was in that horrible slump? I would agree that trading Brooks is bad at this stage because his value has diminished horribly, but he is our best chance at landing a superstar once his value rises again (if it rises again).
I don't think Brooks can be a perfect PG. He is what he is. A shooter. A very good shooter. His passing is sub-par for a point guard. Its not that he won't sacrifice shots, its that if he doesn't take those shots he's almost invisible on the court as he can't create for others and he is not a good passer at the point guard position. We need to find each player's strengths and play to those strengths. So I agree with you that Brooks should be in the second unit where he can shoot whenever he wants to and just dominate the 2nd unit. Its probably easier getting shots playing against the other teams' second units. But I disagree that he can be a perfect PG. Last year he was in beast-mode and he was good, but not very good, at passing. The problem is his ego and attitude. He just won't accept the loss in "face" of being outplayed by his former backup (who in his mind is still HIS "backup"). This is creepily turning into the Calderon/TJ Ford situation. Lets hope it won't turn into that because Brooks would be perfect as a 6th man.
I agree with you man. I think we gotta play players at their strength. Brooks strength is his offense, which will be not utilized fully if he plays with Martin and Scola on the floor. It will be best for him to be leader at the bench.. take almost half of the bench shots and may be he can be used during closing minutes... Lowry is a better defender than him and we need that in the starting lineup because Brooks and Martin backcourt will be a disaster. Plus, we need a better passer, which is also lowry. If Brooks can consistently give us 10-15 points off the bench, I think he is a great weapon to have once he gets his shooting back. Only major improvement he will need to make is get better as transition offense.. Lowry is so good at it. So yeah, we should play players at their strength. Brooks should be used as an instant offense.
I wanna trade AB with those Texas boys like D. Gibson or TJ ford...at least they'll have the drive to play for the Rox..
Twills latest tweet said something like this. Worry about what you can control. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what needs to happen. Pretty sure he's referring to a trade. I must say I'm pretty sure this is the most frustrating group the Rockets have ever had and it looks like they are playing oddly.... I give them credit, they haven't given up yet, but it looks like there is a breaking point coming. I could see two or three trades made in feb. Not just one. Even if Morey gets Melo I could still see him shaking up other positions as well.
I agree, Brooks will most probably never be a good defender, and you have another weak link defensively already at the other guard spot in Martin. Trade now while his value is high.
His very WAS high. He'll get better when his speed and shooting comes back with his ankle. Right now, he just shouldn't play that many minutes if the team really wants to win.
it almost looks like he's acting up to show how frustrated he is for not being the starting pg.........
Aren't you the guy who said that Cleveland would still win 55 games this season without LeBron James? See, I can make stuff up too.
That would be dumb on his part. It doesn't look like Adelman will give him back the starting job unless he can prove he deserves it. The "Imma gonna play like crap to force coach to make a change and start me" route probably isn't going to cut it.
