I'm tired of people blaming Francis for everything that has gone wrong this season. We've got a new coach with an entirely new way of playing, so this should really have been considered a season of adjustment. The fact that we made it to the playoffs is amazing. I would not trade Francis for anyone, especially considering how there were times during the playoffs where he pretty much carried this team. Admittedly, he also made many mistakes, but that is just the sign of a young, inexperienced player. What I found to be even more embarrassing is 6'7 Jim Jackson getting more rebounds than Yao Ming. We should try to get Mcgrady but still keep Francis. I would propose giving up Mobley and Jackson for Mcgrady. The Magic get two excellent role players, and we get an All-star. I know maybe some might feel that would mean too many good players on one team, but I think that Mcgrady is a special player who knows how to utilize the skills of those around him. He would know how to get Yao Ming more involved and maybe even teach him to be more aggressive. He also seems like he is at a point in his career (where Kevin Garnett was just a short time ago) where he is re-evaluating his situation and exactly what he would do to win. I think he could come to Houston and be satisfied with being either the second or third option as long as he feels like there is a chance to win a championship.
Ah yet another, "Steve is god" posts, by a loyally blind SOF and yes I exaggerate, only as much as you people do. Anyway, let's make this short and sweet. Mobly and Jackson for Mcgrady? Orlando will be desperate, but not THAT desperate. And people say I'm not realistic. We cannot get Mcgrady and keep Francis, it is impossible. We cannot compete with other offers without utilizing Francis showcasing these postseason. We must use it while it's still fresh in the public's mind. Steve did not carry anyone, he had a good performance by taking advantage of lousy perimeter defense, once La figured that out and actually defended and Shaq helped on the pick and roooll... Steve was returned to the steve of old, yadda yadda end of story I for one don't blame Steve for anything, I just want to use him to get us a better player, that can help the team a lot more than he ever will. Steve is good, but not a good fit on this team, he is not at all a diverse player to adapt to any type of team. However his style would flourish in orlando, it's the perfect team for em, he'd be set free to be what he is, another Allen Iverson that can rebound. Cause like Allen Iverson, he cannot carry a team. All heart no brains ppl, must I get more annoying? Now, for those who use the "adjustment" term as an excuse for his lousy play this season. Ya know, oh he was forced to cease shooting and force to pass more, that's why he suffered etc etc Welp, that's the defense you all have for a 6yr veteran. Now, let's look at Yao, he too sucks at being a leader of a team, however, in a period of "adjustment", where he was FORCED to play like every other center should, forced to bang, force to constantly be in the low post and force his way to the basket by sheer physical play, in his SECOND year, managed to improve from his previous year. Cmon, people, do you not see the reason in being more patient with Yao and not being at all with Francis? Stop using his postseason performance against ONE team, to classify him as our "franchise" player. And please, of all stupid things to say, do not use that excuse to proclaim "Steve can't be traded FOR ANYBODY!!!"
And out of being irritated once more by you SOF's and YOF's lack of reasoning... and use the same old same old excuses which are completely illogical.. such as "but hey! he was good when there was no zone! huh? huh?" and the postseason "good against one team" one... I would like to say again... LET IT FREAKING GO!!!
I just want to see T-Mac take Kobe to school in next years playoffs. No more of this 1 round and out crap.
The only way Orlando pull a trade with Houston it has to include Francis or Yao. Simple as that, but wait a minute we do have a trade exception also HMMM!! Trade: Mobley Cato Taylor and our trade exception Rox get T-Mac Would that be enough to pull off a steal with the magic?
Think about it this way the Suns are offering them Marion, Johnson,Jake, our offer is better look>>Marion is better than Mobley, In the East I would prefer Big Bodies who could score Mo Taylor is better than Joe Johnson, and Cato is better than Jake, plus our trade exception. You can't tell me that Cat,Mo,Cato+TE can't get that trade done, but the question is do we think T-Mac would share the spotlight with Franchise and Yao? Steve Francis Jim Jackson Tracy McGrady ? Yao Ming We would still have to get a rebounding PowerForward but, come on man thats a friggin lineup T-Mac could play pointforward at times and let Francis be Francis and Yao would'nt have to be the MAN and he could worry about other things like REBOUNDS and BLOCKS!!!
THere is no way the Magic would take Stevie for TMac. They are not in the same class. Any trade for TMac to the Rox, Yao would have to be part of the deal ... There could be a tiny chance for the Rox not to give up Yao: they have to give the Magic (1) whoever they want on the Rox roster except Yao; (2) a few future number 1 picks; and (3) The ROX takes on Hill's contract.
You have to be nuts to think Orlando would even listen to this deal. This is the funniest post I have seen in a long time. Please tell me you forgot the in your post. I can honestly tell you that Cat/MoT/Cato/TE would not get T-Mac, in fact, Orlando would laugh at this. Just look at the Phoenix trade: Marion>>>Mobley. He can score, rebound, and defend. Johnson>>MoT. Joe Johnson has really emerged since Marbury left, averaging 17-4-4. The guy looks great, while MoT looks like crap with a huge contract. Jake=Cato. Not in talent wise, but when considering contracts, they are equal. Don't forget that Jake is a servicable big man too, only with a cheaper contract. If Phoenix throws in a 1st round pick, it would be a done deal. They draft Okafor with the #1 and Ben Gordon with Phoenix's pick. Gordon-Lue Johnson-Stevenson Marion-whoever Howard-Gooden Okafor-Jake The sky would be the limit for this team.
Orlando trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) Orlando receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: 0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, and 0.0 apg. Houston trades: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes) C Steven Hunter (3.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 13.4 minutes) Houston receives: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 67 games) C Steven Hunter (3.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 59 games) Change in team outlook: 0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, and 0.0 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Orlando and Houston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Orlando and Houston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have been assigned Trade ID number 1597660
yea it looks wierd when it says olando trades cutino anf whatever and recieves cuttino but i dont noe what happened
here is a nother one Orlando trades: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes) C Steven Hunter (3.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 13.4 minutes) Orlando receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: -3.9 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and -1.1 apg. Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) Houston receives: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 67 games) C Steven Hunter (3.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 59 games) Change in team outlook: +3.9 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and +1.1 apg. I disagree. They're not getting Mobley, Cato, etc, they're getting Steve, Cato, Mo, Steve if needbe, whoever. Okafor Howard Marion Johnson Gordon? That team would be horrible. They gotta go with starpower. They won't pass up a solid center, an all-star west pg, good big scoring in Mo, solid sg in Mobley. Those are good trade pieces and make them a much better team than all other options except Kobe.
I was responding to the post that suggested we wouldn't have to trade SF to get T-Mac. Even if SF was in the deal, Orlando would still take the Phoenix trade over a Houston offer. If Orlando took SF, Cato, and MoT, in a package, that would completely wipe out any cap space (if any) they had. The Phoenix trade gives them an all-star in Marion, a potential all-star in Johnson, a servicable bigman, and a top 10 pick.
Ppl, if Kobe resigns w/ the Lakers, TMac comes to the Rox, the next year PO matchup b/w the two teams would have the TV rating going thru the roof big time! Gosh, Yao vs Shaq + TMac vs Kobe!!! I am drooling now...
I want to just want to point this out. One of the positions that the Rockets were hurt at last year wa the PF. It's true, Kelvin Cato did show some improvements this year and Mo contributed well off the bench well. However, the Rockets often times lacked size and toughness on the inside. Regardless of what everyone says, Yao is not and will never be overlly agressive. It's just not his game. We need a quick PF who can score and get rebounds. Lets talk about that before we get TMac.
I will have to agree with you on this one, as wil most people on this board. We definently need someone at the pF that will score and play defense and has size. I know that's asking for a lot, but that will help us more right now.
You haven't seen Yao playing in the China or the Asian Games. He can be a monster when the stakes are really high. He was phenominal in two do-or-die occasions in his life. First was the CBA finals right before he left for the NBA--he was already selected No.1. At that time his team hadn't agreed to let him go, w/ an implied condition that he had to win the (first ever) championship for the city of Shanghai before he can go. Their opponents were the Chinese Army team who had won the championship 7 years in a row ever since the CBA founded. In the last game he shot 21 for 21, made all his FTs, grabbed about 20 boards, simply carried his team on his back to a hard fought victory. Second was last year's Asian Championships final in which only one team would qualify for the Olympics. He played all 40 minutes and got 30pts and 15 boards and was totally nasty in the game--dunking on the opponents and screaming at them as well. Some other poster said he yelled at his teammates for the ball too. He has some mean streak in him, definitely. We'll see it.
