Wait, weren't you the same dude who tried to save a few bucks buying a used dishwasher which ended up not working?
I believe the only reason Toyota's quality went south is because I bought my first Toyota in 2007 for the new Camry model...full well expecting to get a quality car that would last me a long time. This...after having a Ford that had the engine replaced twice under a head gasket recall...among many other problems that made me curse the day I bought a Ford. Then, as soon as I get my Toyota, all hell breaks loose in the quality of their cars with these gas pedal issues and other things. I apologize for buying a Toyota and putting this in motion. This is my first real issue, though, and it is being fixed for free...at least until the engine breaks down later from this.
Exactly. I think I'm going to buy a Tacoma early next year. The longer that Toyota stays in the news for negative reasons, the better.
What makes this situation unique from other recalls is that recalls cover something that COULD happen but is not guaranteed to happen. I guaran-fookin-tee you this one will happen...and your next ride may be in the back of an ambulance in a body bag ("Platoon"-style reference...heehee). Get 'er done for those affected. Don't wait. Or, you could be quite oily.
toyotas quality sucks. they got too big, too many models. my four cylinder camry has just started leaking oil i've been impressed with Hondas

First of all, if you bought a first year model, they are known to have the most problems. Most of the people I know usually wait for the second year model before they purchase the vehicle they want. This way, it gives the company time to iron out the bugs they find in the first year.
True...I went with the newer model because of the timing of my car purchase and relied on their reputation for quality. I also didn't want to get stuck with an older body design for either Toyota or Honda...so I got the new Toyota as the Honda new body design was a year away. But, in this case, some of these problems have carried over into the 2nd and 3rd gen models...so there are no guarantees to that everything is fixed after first gen obviously. I was kind of expecting some little problems with the car but I've had zero...other than this one now four years later. So, at least so far ( knock on wood ), the gamble has worked as I have zero dollars invested in fixing anything...only regular maintenance bills. I got my car back from the dealer this afternoon. They did not use a metal hose for the replacement part. They used a redesigned, newer part that is supposed to be better quality than the original part. Apparently, I have to jump through hoops to get the metal part installed. So, I guess I have the band-aid fix as they are calling it? Hmm. I hope I don't run into this again down the road. But, this is the new part the manufacturer is giving the dealers to deal with this issue. There was also a good amount of oil still in my engine...so no engine damage to worry about thankfully. I believe this campaign is covered through March 2013 on this part.
This is why I get a white chick I'm banging (8/10) to drive me everywhere, even to the house of another white chick I'm banging (6/10).
yup , thanks for noticing. the point of the thread was i was getting ripped off and it hurt like hell...not what i have or don't have
