Turly one of the worst freak accidents to happen in professional sports imo. He had no reason to get hurt. Lots of guys dunk it after the whistle all the time, but somehow or the other, he just landed REALLY badly. Too bad for the Celtics. Man that's how many key guys they have injured? 4?5? Pierce, Allen, Ratliff, Sczerbiak, West. That's brutal. Too bad for Allen too. He had some good potential there. Video link here
Sorry if this sounds a little cold, but who on the Celtics would you pick up for your fantasy team now? Someone needs to score there...
All it takes is a freak accident like this to seriously alter somebody's career. He may never be the same again yet people always criticize professional athletes for going after the paychecks. Can't say I blame them.
Geez, and sigh. I saw it on NBATV and what Doc Rivers had to say. I mean it was a freaking accident, but it was avoidable since the play had been stopped. Had he not been showboating ..., trowing down that hard
can someone say martin gramatica? seriously though, that is awful to hurt yourself on something like that. he was playing good basketball too. i hope he's able to make it back 100 percent. you'd hate to see someone lose a career over something like that.
i've had the same thing happen to me. mine was on a layup instead of a dunk. i sprained my mcl and acl. it was terrible.
Not to wish injury upon anyone.. but maybe something like this would help humble Nate Robinson's cocky @ss
reminds me of when me and my friend were at some party/barbeque at a park and there was a bball court there but no ball, anyway my friend pretends to be dribbling and I play defense, he goes up to shoot and I contest the shot and land on his foot- torn ligament. It all took maybe 30 seconds and was so pointless.
That's how I messed up my right knee.. Drove right, went up like A.I. between to big white dudes(I'm only 5'8 or so..) and got pushed in the air kind of.. then landed on my right knee, stuff came out of place, heard a pop.. but made the layup, couldn't play any sports for like 6 months.
