HOU 119 - GS 108 L.Scola 24:19 7-12 5-6FT 3OFF 7RBD 1AST 0STL 1BLK 19PTS C.Landry 23:14 7-10 4-4FT 3OFF 6RBD 0AST 1STL 0BLK 18PTS That's 37PTS and 13RBD in 47:33 tonight from the PF position. I think the best output from Scolandry so far?
Yeah I was saying this on another thread. When I think of Houston PF, I don't think of Scola, I don't think of Chuck or Landry. I think of Scolandry, that double headed monster, they are our best duo and is definitely a consistent package!
http://www.82games.com/0809/0809HOU5.HTM Rockets PFs: 20.5 points, 13.3 rebounds per 48 minutes. Opponent PFs: 20.9 points, 11.5 rebounds per 48 minutes. Landry and Scola are good rebounders, but it's not like they really out produce the opposing bigs by some huge margin.
There might be some Chuck and a few other players mixed in to those Rockets PF stats. Just looking at the Scola/Landry combination, they effectively give us 21.2 points and 13 rebounds per 48 minutes. But they also are much more efficient: a .58 TS% compared to .53 TS% for the opponents, as well as turning it over less. I think we also have to consider that PF was a real weakness for the team a few years ago. Now, we're probably above average at that position.
How are these statistics "lies"? If there is another source that says something different, do share. Given that Rockets opponents scores 93.3 games on average, it's not unreasonable that 20-21 or so comes from any of the five positions. Given that Houston Rockets as a team gives up 41 rebound a game, it's not unreasonable that a little over 1/4 of these came at the PF spot, one of the two primary positions reponsible for getting rebounds. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/byteam?cat1=Total&cat2=opponent&sort=333 Or are you saying Yahoo sports stats are also lies?
Of course, this is much better than when we were working with Juwan/Spoon/Rybo that back in 04/05. http://82games.com/0405HOU5.HTM But the raw fantasy numbers for a few teams at a given posistion can combine into some nice looking numbers on a 48 minute basis. For example, the Cavs: http://www.82games.com/0809/0809CLE5.HTM The Heat: http://www.82games.com/0809/0809MIA5.HTM The Knicks Center avergage out to 27 points and 13 rebounds a game. More than the Rockets center position. http://www.82games.com/0809/0809NYK5.HTM Bottome line: The Rockets have been pretty good and Scola and Landry are contributors... but when you look at all 48 minutes played at any given position for any given team, the numbers can look pretty decent even when you don't have a "star" player at the position. That said, the Rockets PF productiviy is above average, particularly on the boards. It's is amazingly to think that these two guys only combine to make $6-7 million (and only $8-9 million or so when you throw in Chuck).
I have repeatedly shown you examples of why the 82games stats are either largely made up or are useless to bolster a point you were trying to make.
I don't recall, please reference. If you are talking about +/- on/off stats... then these have nothing to do with the calculation of such stats and I have no idea about how the alleged uslessness of the on-off +/- stats has anything to do with the discussion in this thread, which is the box-score output of the PF position. Also, please explain how these particular stats are erroneous. I went back and eye-balled the box-scores from the Rockets games this season, it seems fairly consistent with what the opposing PFs (or those you would expect to be PFs) are producing.
