I'm done with the playoffs until the next round. I thought I'd enjoy the Dallas/Phoenix series, but I'm sick of hearnig the TNT announcers mention every few minutes about how Dallas has got to play better because "they're not playing Houston any more". I think they made about half a dozen negative references to the Rockets in Game 1. Let it go, TNT. The media doesn't like Houston. They're out of the playoffs. Move on.
That's just not true. First of all, everyone on TNT was praising McGrady in particular for looking like he was going to take the next step in his career from being just a scorer to a winner. Barkley, Doug Collins, and Magic all made it a point of emphasis during the Mavs/Rockets series. Second, what I heard was that they were saying Dallas needs to change its style of play more than they need to step up their game. Lastly, even if they did say the Mavericks need to step up their game they would be right. Now they are playing the top seed in the entire playoffs, that would warrant stepping up your game.
Turn down the volume if you're sensitive about it. It's not a negative reference, it's the truth. You have to play at a higher level each subsequent level in the playoffs as the opponents get tougher.
they are not bashing houston. the suns and rockets just play two different brands of bball, one is slow and the other is fast.
yea CALM DOWN DUDE... see thats why its funny how one person can hear one thing and completely change the meaning by changing a few words. YOU ARE TOTTALLY WRONG the TNT crew said the advantage Dallas had over Houston in game 7 was their speeed. So they siad dallas cant use the same advantages they have over houston with the suns, cuz the SUNS ARE EVEN FASTER! So they just said they are not playing houston anymore and need to CHANGE THEIR STYLE of play. They did not refer to houston as a crappy team. just different styles of bball and you have to adjust to your oponents. Anyways with that said GOOO ROCKETS.. cant wait till next year.. hope we can get a good PF and PG
I knew there'd be someone on here b****ing about that comment. It was not meant to be negative. They were talkinga bout the contrasting styles of ball the Rockets and Suns play. In other words, you are gonna have to run and gun to the fullest if you beat the Suns, while you can play more of a slow tempo pace with the Rockets.
As was pointed out here by several, he wasn't referring to the Rockets as a lesser team, just a different. You could play a home and home with the slow-down Pacers and take both, but if you have to turn around and play the up-and-down Raptors (half the team the Pacers are) 36 hours, you might just get your ass kicked and give up 114 points.
I seem to recall them saying Houston would present much more of a problem for Phoenix than Dallas does. Fits in with the style-of-play discussion.
Agree about Houston being different..they have to change their gameplan/style of play in order to beat the Suns.. totally two different teams it's not saying houston is worse..... Rockets could have beat the Suns imo..we beat them like thrice in the season.. Suns are very good though btw. Quite unstoppable with Nash Amare adn Marion and seriously 3 point drainers
This season, the Rockets didn't have consistency and stability, and it showed in the playoffs. Without those two, the Rockets won't get any love.
Be a Rockets fan long enough, and bashing is all you ever hear...you get kind of numb to it after a while
Give it four or five games and they'll be saying, "The Suns have to realize that they aren't playing the Grizzlies or Mavericks anymore... this is San Antonio."
