t-mac still have a lot of time to get the mvp award. He just did not start well because his back was still bothering him and he did not want to risk it as the 7 games that he missed prove him to be right..he said he was slowing down but i read in an article today that the doctors told him to rest and he admit it himself that he did nothing but eat during 7 months and he went up to 250 pounds..even if he trim down to start the season,he was still slow and out of shape to play at the nba level.but now that he is healthy and back to being t-mac .he is the mvp without any doubt...t-mac for mvp 2007 ..first post for me

I feel you IC, but there were some venemous things said about him and his family, and IMO maybe he feels the fans should know a little (maybe not in great detail) why he was in such a bad state for the year considering his work in the offseason.

It's not a pity thing here as much as we understand, because he's not still pouting about it. The guy has bounced back and is giving what he has to the organization. You cannot fault him for that can you?

I think you're the one who needs to shut up. Honestly, do you ever do anything besides come here and whine?

All he needs is to jump 10 inches higher, not get blocked every time he drives, not turn the ball over, learn to shoot and shave that ridiculous beard :)

He's beaten the crap outta Chris Paul, Captain Kirk, and you-can't-touch-me DWade. And that's all it counts. :)

The US team hasn't been able to defend the pick and roll at all. Jasikevicius abused the USA worse than Spanoulis a couple of years ago. What's he doing in the NBA? If you're not athletic or superquick or you're not surrounded by Amare Stoudamire and Shawn Marion, you can't play PG in the NBA.

They only reason Nash is able to finish around the hoop is because they give him an open lane for fear of Amare and he has loads of experience and he's very crafty. The other thing is that they close out on Nash, because he's such a great shooter so he gets a lot of finishes around the hoop. Spanoulis doesn't have that luxury.

Even Nash couldn't be nearly as effective if he was playing for other teams. He is slow and unathletic. He can't defend and he can't rebound, but he has monsters around him in Phoenix to mask his shortcomings. They don't play any defense anyway in Phoenix

I guarantee you the Mavericks wouldn't be as good with Nash. He allows so much dribble penetration, while the Mavs have the best defender at the PG position in Harris who's very athletic

Nash could have never won an MVP award playing for a strictly halfcourt execution championship style team.

McGrady needs to quickly shed that honest good-guy image somehow or the Rockets are screwed!

Quick, T-Mac, beat up on your wife and fire a pistol outside of a Houston nightclub...everyone knows those are the only guys that can make it in this league.

Oh, get Yao to do the same thing while you're at it.

Clearly, there is no room for "nice guys" anymore in sports...we can only appreciate those guys who 'act tough' and 'thuggish'; guys with wholesome images need not apply.

I had a hunch his problems were about either family or friends or both doing him dirty with money, or his girlfriend/wife turned into a hag and was dragging him down and being a domestic menace, making threats and ultimatums :D

Glad to see he's over the issues. He brings it upon himself though when he mentions just a tidbit of info and leaves the door open for people's speculation of what is going on with him. Don't mind him talking, its his business after all not ours, and his choice if he wants to share it or not. But he should know the effects when he does that - if its left to everyone's interpretation and their probably gonna be wrong, then KNOW they're wrong and don't think much into people's talk. Instead of being sensitive to everything.

He tried and did it in a manner he thought would be good for everyone but probably made it more stressful for himself and everyone around. Can't go from sensitive & caring to the opposite just like that, so can just hope he's learned from it. Which it seems he has. Its all him and the team can ask for now, a smarter more focused McGrady.

I'm sick of this excuse. It was just 1 game, with rules completely different from NBA rules, with an NBA team that had played with each other for like 3 months.

And if you break it down, on defense its not like he single handedly shutdown these players, and on offense its no feat to score on these guys. Get over the Greece win already. Spain beat you in the finals anyway, does that make every player on that team Hall of Famers in the NBA?
