I agree, I've been very happy with his production. My only complaint is his tendency to take jumpshots when he's proven he can go by his man and get to the hoop and/or the free throw line. Other than that I've been very please by his play. Pugs
I still think lebron is better but I don't mind having the second best perimeter player in the league on the rockets.
you're freaking brilliant...this is absolutely right, and well said. he finds his part naturally. he asserts himself, no doubt....but he is so steady and so smooth, it's ridiculous.
I agree with this thread in every way. But I have to see, what he did against the Spurs is already legend...doesn't hafta be in a playoff series. Anyone watch the Spurs/Lakers game last night? In the final 2 minutes, the Spurs were up 20ish (Spurs broadcast on NBA TV)..and the play-by-play guy said something like "Well, the Spurs will go to [record here] if they finish out this win tonight" Elliott made some comment to the effect of "of course they'll win it". Then play by play man comes back with "yeah, there's no Tracy McGrady here tonight, so I think the lead is safe" a legend was born
Both Jordan and Lebron are built a little more powerfully, especially in the base (hips down) That explains why he would take alot more punishment if he drove more, I think he will, but not as effectively as those other two. I think TMac is a purer shooter and is so smooth and quicker than Lebron. His ability to get his shot and his quickness will make him the premeir perimeter player for a few years to come. I think his natural talent is above Lebron, better shot, better hop and better quickness. Will it translate into better numbers????
Watching T-Mac in person is a real treat. I liked Steve a lot and appreciated the fact that he always played with heart, but with the clock winding down . . . who do you want taking that final shot? T-Mac reminds me of a great kick returner in football Ñ Dante Hall, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, etc . . . These guys have a sixth sense in terms of the flow of traffic in front of them. They seem to know where the holes are going to be ahead of time. Another thing I like watching on his dribble is the fact that he seems to change speed a lot. Really hard to defend that. Also, do you notice how few fouls he gets?
Iam sorry, I love Tracy's game, but he does not have more hops and he is not quicker then labron or kobe (well atleast not faster).Tracy is a better shooter and he is alot smoother then the other two I must admit.
I haven't had the luxury of watching kobe or lebron as much as tmac (i've only missed two rockets games this season), but I'm sure as hell happy that he's on the ROCKETS! So many times over the last few seasons I found myself screaming at Francis as he suddenly fell to the ground while being pressured by his defender beyond the 3-point line, having to call a 20 and waste a timeout. So many times I found myself screaming at Mobley for jacking up a 3 as the rest of our guys were running the floor getting into position, only to have it brick and give our opponents an easy basket at the other end (even though he bailed himself out of those untimely shots 20% of the time). TMAC seems tp play the game almost to perfection as far as decision making goes. He passes when he's supposed to, he shoots when he's supposed to. He gets rebounds that he should be getting, does not commit a lot of stupid fouls, plays good defense, etc. A lot of what he does isn't defined in statistics. If TMAC continues to shoot more jumpers than drive, I'll live with that. If it means preserving his body and keeping him injury free so he can continue being on the court, I'm all for it.
I have followed TMac's career since he came into the league. Despite being a Rocket's fan, he was and is my favorite player in the NBA. LeBron and Kobe are great players, but I like TMac better. He is soooo smooooth, like silk. No wasted motion, no hully-gully, "franic-francis," (sorry, couldn't resist) kind of action. His shooting is a bit streaky, but when he hits a "groove," look out, he can't miss. As you have noticed, he is very hard to guard. He can pull up or take you to the rim in a hurry. He can easily average 25-30, but can "go off" for 50 at anytime. He is an excellent passer, has exceptional court vision, great decision maker, and is deceptively quick. One of the premier players in the game. He is not Jordan, or Magic, or Lebron, or Kobe, he is TMac, a unique player with a unique game. I really enjoy watching him play. I was shocked and amazed when the Rockets got him. It is like the Hakeem era all over again, and he is just reaching his peek. With the right additions, I expect a Championship within the next three years. It has been a rough start, but look for a sweet ending. He is playing well right now, but I have seen him play even better. If you are impressed now, wait til he goes 60-20-10. He can do it, and there aren't many who can.
Tmac has been my favorite player since his first season at Orlando. One other thing that he could to better aside from getting to the line more.. is his rebounding... he's listed at 6'8", but in an interview with KG, KG said Tmac is closer to 6'10"...I think he should be more involved in pulling those boards down given that Yao is a sub par rebounder. I think Mcgrady at his best will put up: 29pts 8 rebs 5.5 assists 2 steals 1 block Another thing we should be excited about is that Tmac has not been complaining about his back. He plays so many minutes, but with a supporting cast this season, he had much of the weight taken off his shoulders...
