Tim, Please help us poor out-of-towners. Last year we only had 2 or 3 games with Calvin and Bill on League Pass. Don't know if it had something to do with the move to 51, but every other year has been about 50-50. It sucked listening to other's announcers all season. We miss Bill and Calvin. Don't you want us to see your commercials? HELP! BTW, Cooper will prob be a good addition, but thanks for Malosky also. We'll miss her. Everyone we've seen for years seem like part of the family (... we even recognize the security guard behind the Rockets bench).
Cohen, Not speaking for Tim, but I think we might see more of BIll and Calvin on LP. If you remember last year, the Rockets didnt finalize their TV deal until the season was just about to start. I think this hurt their chances of being on LP since LP had already finalized their lineups and commitments.
I live in Houston, so I get 51 on my satellite. I did listen to a couple of games. The crew that bothered me most was the one from Seattle. Kevin Harlin I think. "Throw it down Space Cowboy!!"
I know this has probably been asked before, but does anyone know how many Rockets games/which channels the games will be on in Austin? Thanks.
The only Rockets games you will see is the National Televised Games, unless you buy League Pass. I just bought mine last week for $159 (Time Warner Austin). Hope it helps.
You could also probably pick up a few more than just the nationally televised by getting NBA Tv for a couple bucks a month. Really need League Pass, though.
So let me get this right, all games, home and away will be on 51, except the nationally televised ones?
I would doubt it. NBALP prefers Fox Sports broadcasts. The Rockets will have none. The best opportunity for B&C would probably be Toyota Center games where both broadcasts are OTA in their respective markets.
I can't beleive nobody mentioned that terrible broadcast signal on 51. It is the worst!!!! The image regularly pops blue and green or just goes black outright. I HATE watching games on 51. At least this season there are more national games so I can get an occasional repreive from the hell hole that is 51. Not to mention that since nobody watches that station, they only have 3 advertisers...and one of those is the Rockets! I could mouth every fricken line from every freakin commercial by the allstar game.
Will I be able to subscribe to the Rockets/Astros channel if I live in New York? If anyone knows, thanks for the help.
All games will be televised, either on 51 or on the NBA's national partners, TNT, ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. For the games on ESPN, we'll also be doing a 51 telecast, just like last year. When the game is on TNT or ABC, they get to have an exclusive. (There can be rare exceptions to that on TNT, but it's too much arcane detail to get into here.) If you live outside the market, the only way to subscribe to Rockets games I know of is through League Pass. Tim
Fox Sports, not Fox. I don't know for certain, but my guess is that it is a technical issue. It involves an extra layer of difficulty and lag for inDemand (the company which actually does NBALP) to pick up local broadcasts and send them back out over the country. Incidentally, the schedule will be out October 29.
If you have TW digital with the Sports Tier (which now includes NBAtv) us Austinites should get to see about 34 games this year. There are a lot more on national tv and NBAtv. It's great compared to only 3 or 4 national tv games and the 4 spurs games.
