I wonder if the decision to not keep Tierre was made long before this. Like I said, no matter what spectacular or great play Tierre did in the summer leagues, he got very little to no love from the coaches. Tito couldn't do squat right in the summer leagues, but the coaches were always encouraging him to keep his head up and keep pushing the ball. Seemed weird at the time, but maybe not so weird now...

They must be keeping Tito based on potential or something because what I saw was a pretty bad PG in the summer leagues with the exception of his ability to push the ball. I haven't seen any pre-season games, so I don't know if he's improved on that any. Those of you saying Tierre couldn't handle traps should've seen how Tito reacted to them... or any kind of pressure in the summer leagues. Scary.

Exactly, this was a long time coming...
The Rockets were wasting his time and should have let him go long ago. Tierre is still better than Tito and Tito cannot play SG...

Rest assured, DoD: Tierre was scary, too. He had no left-handed layup last year, and he showed up as a cripple against a press this preseason.

imo, if there must be one to keep, you keep Tito based solely on his 6'4" size, because neither one of them is an NBA point guard, but either one could be a practice dummy, at least. Someone has to at least challenge Francis on defense in practice.

Maddox is young. he only spent 1 year in college as a freshmen. im thinking he will be a nice backup in a couple of years.

After our seasonal onslaught of injuries he could be starting by the second week.

Man, if one of our THIRD STRING point guards getting cut is cause for alarm, God forbid something REALLY serious happens! If Francis AND Moochie go down, we are in deep ****, period. It doesn't matter who is back there.

Neither one really did well on the press, IMO. However, Tito looked to try to break it with a pass instead of dribbling into one like Tierre. Tierre never really looked to pass either, he always wanted to drive in and score. If he had the skills and/or explosiveness to do it then go for it but I don't see that from him. Tito has the size and I think will be seasoned in practice sessions aka "practice dummy" as someone else already stated. I saw flashes of his point guard ability at the open practice, so I'm guessing the coaching staff sees the same thing.

Tierre, Tito, Mickael....who cares? If it comes down to the taem relying one of these guys to get us into the playoffs, then they're screwed anyway.

I'm not sure I understand all of this. They cut Brown and Torres, but are keeping Juaquin Hawkins and Pete Mickeal? So.....they cut two guards and kept two small forwards. So now we have five Small Forwards: Hawkins, Mickeal, Thomas, Boki, Tmo. I guess it makes sense, Mobley and Francis are going to get most of the minutes anyways. I would love to hear some explanations of why the Rox cut two guards instead of a guard and small forward. Thanks

I don't know much about the two, but I thought they were SGs. Maybe they can both play both the 2 and 3?

Hawkins and Mickael (spelling?) are both defense players who can guard the two, which is all we really need to back up Mobley. Torres and Brown were redundant with Mobley, Francis, Moochie and Tito in addition to the ability of Hawkins and Mickael to play guard. But again, who cares?

As someone just stated, they are both defensive players who can guard the 2. They are both defensive swing men who are much more needed than another offensive player. Mario Elie was a 6'5'' SG/SF, not like they're in his league but I'm just using the size as an example. :D

I am shocked that the Rockets waived Tierre Brown. Tierre Brown played so well in limited minutues and was a great guy to have on the team. I even have his crossover on Antonio Daniels downloaded on my computer. Do any of you guys want a copy of it?

Tito is a much better point guard than Tierre. Tierre is a shooting guard in a little man's body.

That is the second major surprise to me. Part of my surprise was that I had never seen Pete or Hawk. Anyway, so far no body from our roster last year is out of the league so it bodes well for Brown.

I agree that this was coming along time ago. Both for TB and OT. They did very well in the SL and instead of giving them guaranteed contracts they used them as fodder. Really puzzling. The things is we are likely to feel the absence of TB. I am not bball expert, never played the game, but I believe HP is wrong about that boy's ability.

    Jeff,

I don't think there's "alarm". I think people are puzzled as to why Pete, Tito, and Joaquin would all make it over Tierre. Plus you have your usual fans of players voicing displeasure at the move. I know DearRock has to be crying somewhere now that his player got cut. :)

Plus, with the way we seem to be attracting injuries early on, we may have to rely on one of those 3 quite a bit during the season.

Yeah I have a copy of it, but I can't send a link, since my site is banned by ****s, since some people that view it were advertising for it without my permission. :( I'd be willing to email it to people though.

Actually I was pretty puzzled by the move of keeping Tito over anybody, but you are absolutely correct Jeff if Steve or Moochie goes down we are in serious s*** anyways so in the long run WHO CARES.
