Serge Ibaka Jeff Green James Harden All extremely talented players, that will all have to get paid at some point. Will they break the bank to re-sign Jeff Green? Clutch brought up a Scola for Harden swap at one point in time. I think the jackpot would be Ibaka, who can play some Center, and who I would absolutely die to see play with Jordan Hill. I think the most likely target is Green, who they have to pay soon, and I am guessing that the Thunder value Ibaka's skillset, contract and youth more than anything at the Power Forward spot. Jeff Green is a natural scoring Small Forward, but he is the unfortunate victim of Kevin Durant. Aaron Brooks Terrence Williams Jeff Green Is a 1-2-3 punch I would like to see, regardless of Scola/Martin. These 3 guys fit undeniably well on paper, imo. Two stud defenders on the wings. Brooks and Green can light it up, Terrence can defend and facilitate. Just a good balance of length, shooting, defense, versatility, athleticism and youth. Can Daryl Morey pry away some young bigs? (Anthony Randolph?/Hasheem Thabeet?) Anywho, thanks for reading...
I'd do it, then Hill can fully take over the four spot I think he can become an all-star if he continues to progress on the low block.
That would make my day. I can easily see Rubio, Cousins, Love being top priority on Morey's wish list. But to be more realistic i can see Jeff Green as a Rocket along with Anthony Randolph. My idea is to land Hibbert for Martin. But back on topic, i think your right Aaron, Jeff and Terrence blend well together. If this is what is likely to happen once Yao, Shane, Jared, Chuckwagon come off the books. That they'll resign Brooks and go after Jeff imo. And they'll resign Yao (at a discount possibly). Yao/Miller/Hill Scola/Randolph Green/Williams Martin/Lee Brooks/Lowry
Unless they land an allstar, all those players are untouchable, although Green not as much. They won't do any lateral moves and I don't think we have anything to offer them, to get one of those players it would be via multiple-teams trade.
If anyone on the Thunder outside of Durant and Westbrook were worth targeting, they'd be a lot better than they are now.
Because it's likely i was done with Yao personally 3 years ago, but knowing the orginization they'll more then likely resign him anyways.
I don't know about that. He's done. He's already 30 and looking at another surgery. I don't even like the idea of re-signing him on a cheap contract -- I don't want to ever have to depend on him again. It's best just to cut ties and let him do what he wants.. which will probably be retiring. We need to rebuild. I don't think Jeff Green helps us do that -- I'd rather deal Scola & Martin for high draft picks.
My bad, forgot that the Rockets are in position to scoff at players from a young team with the 6th best record in the NBA.
Ibaka is untouchable. With Harden, it depends how he plays this year. He's finally waking up after starting the season comatose. I think they need to finally realize Jeff Green can't defend a paper bag and doesn't bring enough to the PF position. If Ibaka keeps improving he should start at PF and Green becomes 6th man material for them. It will be a couple of years before Ibaka can move over and play full time C. He will emerge as their 3rd best player. It's wild how rapidly he's improved. By the way, you do realize Ibaka and Harden are 2nd year players. Good, CHEAP young players don't change teams very often. The Rockets won't plunder the Thunder any time soon. To answer your question, they will NOT break the bank next summer to re-sign Jeff Green. Nobody should do that, including the Rockets.
I'd love to acquire Green and Ibaka, especially Ibaka. However, a more realistic acquisition from the Thunder would be B.J. Mullens ($1.2M). We've not had too much luck with our Green(e)s, but one of them could be good for us. Mullens has the height, potential and pedigree to be a very serviceable center for the Rockets. So, if we miss out on Green, we could trade for Mullens. I just don't know which of our players they would want.
The problem with the Thunder is that they are too much in love with their players to make any significant trade. Everyone knows that they need a veteran big man to help put them over the hump in the playoffs but they simply haven't been willing to trade for one. I think they are committed to resigning all of their players as it stands.
for me i think serge ibaka is the most valuable of all those players. id throw anything at okc for him. the thing is defensive, athletic bigs who are tall (6'10 n above) are so rare in todays game.
