I have a three questions and I want fans to honestly respond to these questions. Question on Mcgrady deal and fans 1.) First of all, I don't get all this hoopla about why the Rockets are losing. I don't get why most fans are upset and down about our team losing. Isn't this what a lot of these fans who advocated for the Mcgrady trade said all along? Didn't these same people say that we were going to lose ballgames and to make a team you have to break a team--something like that? Didn't these people say okay, this trade is for the future and we have to wait a couple of years. Well how longer do we have to wait. Houston has waited 9 and a half years. And just as our team was rebounding and going somewhere a couple of front office idiots and the coach decides to break up the team for one man? Direction of Rockets 2.) The fact is that we're not as talented as most of the teams in the league and our record shows. Anyone who says we are are too optimistic and unrealistic. We are not an elite team--pretty far from it actually--and it will take some time to rebuild this team. We are weak at the 4, 1 and backup 1 or 2 6th man spot. But how do we keep both Yao and Mcgrady with their huge contracts and acquire other quality free agents. The financing aspects of the deal just m akes absolutely no sense. TMAC will make 85 million in 4 years and with Ming's pay day coming up, who is expected to make at least 12-13 million--how do can we sign him and expect to have a balanced team. I fear that this will turn into a Lakers situation where it is difficult to obtain skilled players with 2 extremely large contracts. The Lakers teams in those championship days were different. At that time teams weren't as talented as they are now, plus the team was blessed with low priced shooters that they retained from previous years. Now the league is loaded with great teams Mavs, Spurs, Wolves, Pacers, Pistons. This caught up with the Lakers as their players aged and the teams got much better. Now, the question is that unlike the Lakers we don;t have shooters and how do we expect to sign good shooters and a good point when we have limited funds? How do we do this? 3.) Please someone tell me how Yao is better than Big Z in Cleveland? The stats are similar and Z is a btter shooter. In my mind they're about equal.
1) This tem has more upside. 2) role players dont command max dollars. The rockets didnt have much around dream, mario elie, matt bullard, kenny smith.... 3) Yao ming is 7'6" 310. he is 24. doesnt have the injury history of Z, has never missed a game. averaged more points in a defensive system than Z had ever averaged in a single season up until this young season. has a much better low post game. anchors one of the leagues best defenses. list goes on and on.
did you just say that zydrunas ilgauskas is yao's equivalent? have you ever actually watched yao play a game before? z is great and all, but he is as good as he'll ever be, yao has quite a bit more potential..a 30 point game from z is rare...yao could probably do it every game if he were more aggressive and took the shots.
Yao has skills there is no doubt. But according to the stats, the two are very similar. I believe Z has a better jumpshot but Yao's post game draws double teams. But much of this is potential and hype. The man hasn't been consistent and has not broken out, leading the team to victories as most expected. Big Z is a consistent scorer, you know you'll get at least 10 plus a game with him and his jumper from 10-14 is reliable. Yao, a god in the eyes of some perhaps doesn't deserve the accolades. I don't see why he's getting so much attention when comparatively he is on the same level or perhaps slightly better than Big Z. Much of Yao is potential and nothing more. But if you're not using your potential then it's a waste. Question is is Yao the great player everyone thinks he'll become or a very good and reliable big man like Big Z averaging 15+ and 8 a game. I'm not impressed yet.
Tbui, seriously dude, if you're not impressed with Yao that 's your perogative, but I'm willing to bet you a bowl of beef noodle soup every day of the week for the next 10 years(which I think will be the prime Yao's playing carreer) that Yao& Co will be the ones who will hoist up that Larry O'Brien trophy before Big Z& Co will ever get a sniff at it. Never mind that if Yao ever becomes a free agent, all the GMs in the league will beat down his door to offer him a max contract, hype or no hype. Yao has proven himself time and time again in these past 3 years of his short NBA carreer, but I guess there's always will be doubters such as yourself to make Yao stronger, hungrier, more determined to prove you wrong.
The problem is not Z& Co, it is James & Z & Co. James looks more and more like a legend in the making.
3) You should compare Z's and Yao's contracts. Also, Z is in his contract year and Yao is also due to completing his Rookie contract. Why not release Yao and to test Yao and Z's market value. You also can propose a Yao for Z trade. I guarantee you Cleveland will be very happy to pick up Mo's big contract.
omg youre right.. mj and pippen.. tmac said his idol was pippen and you already lebron is the next mj mj and pippen... tmac and lebron... maaaaaaaaaaaaan hahahahaahaha lets just forget about being shaq/kobe
You call big Z a "consistent scorer " in this league?!! Dude, give me some of the things you're having now.
James is a natural born leader. Yao and Tmac are not, but they would make great sidekick. With James always trying to take over, Yao won't be the focus of the D like right now. Big Z is allowed to take 3's, no way Yao is given that freedom in JVG's system.
tbui, you said now the lueage is "loaded" with "great" teams such as the mavs, pistons, spurs, wolves, and pacers, and these so called great teams were not around during the lakers days. Well, I hate to break it to you, but there were great teams in the lakers days (99-2003), namely the spurs, the trailblazers, and the kings. The kings are better than your "great" mavs since they beat them out of the playoffs the past two years, and the lakers beat these kings. or maybe you are trying to say that the wolves are better this year with an older cassell and sprewell? well, the lakers, with their aging, 2 superstar lineup, defeated the "great" wolves. The aging lakers also beat your "great" spurs. So the only one of your "great" teams that the lakers did not beat was the pistons. Now, wouldnt you say that second best is not bad? And according to your theory, shouldnt the rockets be at least second best?
So, in other words, he should get a contract comparable to Derek Fisher's? That's one way to get him to go to the Lakers.
