Morey Make this happen! We need a Long wing/4 to develop like Ingram or Siakim. Sources: Thon Maker wants trade from Bucks with eye on more playing time 5:45 PM CT The representative for Milwaukee Bucks center Thon Maker has told management that he would prefer the franchise to trade Maker to a team that would provide a larger role for the former lottery pick, league sources told ESPN. As Maker's playing time has diminished under new coach Mike Budenholzer in the Bucks' surge to the NBA's best record, agent Mike George and Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst have discussed trade scenarios in recent weeks that would potentially make sense for both the player and team, league sources said. ADVERTISEMENT Horst was part of a front office that drafted Maker with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft and there remains strong organizational belief in Maker's future, sources said. The Bucks are under no obligation to trade Maker, but the organization has discussed possible deals with rival teams ahead of the Feb. 7 trade deadline, sources said. Maker, 21, is eligible to negotiate a rookie contract extension this offseason. The Bucks have the NBA's best record, 35-12. Maker has shown stretches of terrific promise in the league, but he's been in and out of the Bucks rotation throughout the season. He was part of the team's second unit when Ersan Illyasova was injured, but forward DJ Wilson has usurped more of Maker's minutes in recent weeks. Since January 1, Maker has averaged 10 minutes and 3.8 points -- including four DNP's. Maker started 46 games in his first two seasons, including averaging nearly 17 minutes a game, 4.8 points and three rebounds in the 2018-19 season. Despite the minutes reduction, Maker has raised his scoring and rebounding production per 36 minutes to 14.4 and 8.4 respectively, as well as his Player Efficiency Rating to 13.1 from 10.2. Maker emigrated from war-torn South Sudan to Australia as a young man before settling into Canada before the 2016 NBA Draft. ESPN's Marc Spears and Malika Andrews contributed to this report.
Don’t know too much about the kid, but apparently he has far more potential than Clint and may even be the more impactful player right now! According to sources on ClutchFans I need better sources
Naw dude Clint is a beast, He has limitations but for us(the Rockets) he is a beast. We need to get longer for teams like Toronto, Philly, GS, NO and even Dallas now with Luka. we are in the age of the skilled near 7 footers.
I mean, jokes aside, I don't think anyone actually thinks Maker is better than Clint. But I def wouldn't be opposed to giving him a shot on the Rockets, depending on who we have to trade to get him. I think he does have potential, especially if he gets playing time.
I have no idea why you think Maker is anything like Ingram and Siakim, we really need some basic NBA IQ test to get thread starting privileges.
I not saying give them Eric Gordon for the guy. Maker is not a shot creator like Ingram or Siakim but he is a shot maker. He is a pretty good to solid spot up three point shooter. Corner three especially. He is another front court energy guy and would add defensive length. I think Faried makes Nene expendable and throw in Chriss. So Nene, Chris and our 1st rounder for Thon Maker should get it done.
He could end up a PF. The Rockets could have a twin towers small ball era version! Capela, Thon, and Faried for our 'bigs'. Just need to get rid of Nene
He would be perfect. But what could they want in return? I don't see many holes in their roster. Assets? Picks?
