The United Football League. It is set to debut this October. This is supposedly going to morph into a minor league system for the NFL. http://www.ufl-football.com/ Will it be a success? Or will it be another XFL?
It will fail and fail hard. Arena Football couldn't even survive the recession. Maybe they'll get a nice 1 dollar check for their troubles.
It's funny to see who the coaches for the four flagship teams are.... Dennis Green, Jim Haslett, Jim Fassel and Ted Cottrell. This will be interesting. I think it'll end up being a bunch of college players who were notable names who did not end up getting drafted or catching on anywhere, so the quality should be fairly decent... Still probably fails, though. Unless they can find a major marketing deal..... I would probably watch Thursday or Friday night football if it were on TV. A random thought for the minute: It's hard not to like The Birdman.
The sad thing is, I know the commissioner of this league personally, but still I think the league is going to bomb.
What the heck happened to the league that held its draft last year? They were supposed to play at Rice Stadium...their colors were burnt orange and white and they were coached by John Jenkins.
wiki says they have postponed their inaugural season 3 times now. They will attempt to launch in 2010 now.
Is that the one that was supposed to be a pro football league that kind of ignited college rivalries? I remember Arkansas had one and a lot of former Razorbacks were scheduled to play on the team.
All this new UFL needs is some dirty stripper cheerleaders and on-field, game-time interviews and it will be successful FOR SURE.
I just noticed today that the season is under way... Who is gearing up for the Florida Tuskers vs New York Sentinels tonight on HD NET (6 Pm CST) ?
I'm going to go down to my local pub and meet up with the rest of the die hard Tusker Fans and we're going to get loud and proud and make some NOISE!
I watched about 3 minutes of Vegas vs LA. Was closer to watchable football than Arena ball, but was certainly nothing I could see myself watching more than a quarter of.
Oh sure, jump on the NY bandwagon like everyone else. We've got Jimmy Haslett baby. What could possib-lie go wrong?
hey......hey...... Jamurcus Russell is gonna lead us to the UFL championship next season, so back off.
