I'm trying not to overreact. But, as much as I try, I just can't get it out of my mind. What was up with that ridiculous flagrant foul called on Tim Thomas in the 4th quarter? Thomas fouled him, I admit. But a flagrant is only reserved for situations in which there is a clear objective to stop the play and not the ball. If you watched the replay, Thomas got all ball, and yes, on the follow through he did make contact with Hill. But, it looked to me like he was going for the block, and considering that the first thing he did was get all ball, the issue of it being a flagrant should not have been an issue. I said at the time, after Tyrone Hill made two free throws, that Philly would probably end up winning by one. Unfortunately, I was right. Part of me now wants the Sixers to get to the Finals... so the Lakers can stomp all over them. I cannot stand Allen Iverson, I can't stand the Sixers, and the hype they get is ridiculous. They are not that good. I don't remember feeling this sick since walking out of The Summit after the Stockton three... this one hurts.

It doesn't matter if he was going after the ball or not. If there is unnecessary contact, and there was, a flagrant call can be called on that play :

    From the NBA Rules :

If contact committed against a player, with or without the ball, is interpreted to be unnecessary, a flagrant foul-penalty (1) will be assessed.

Yo Cat, the Bucks blew a 16 point lead. The officiating (which was excellent) is not to blame.

Say what you want about the refs... Glen Robinson had an open look at the basket from what - 5 feet? Like Charles said, great players take, and make, those shots. The Big Dog failed, the Bucks lost. Series ain't over yet.

Excellent if you're a Sixer fan. However, I'm not going to comment further on the matter of the officials... even thinking about this game makes me sick. And no, not because of the officials... just to come that close, and fall short... it hurts.

    "I cannot stand Allen Iverson"

I'm certainly with you on that Cat. All he does is whine to the officials when hes bumped in the slightest manner, it annoys me to watch.

I love Iverson. He plays with so much heart, he is truly one of the greats of our era. If Kelvin Cato had 2% of AI's heart, we'd have a good center.

BTW, GREAT game!! There were questionable calls on both sides IMO. The three from Ray Allen where AI was called for a foul was total BS. But I thought there were some no-calls as well. All in all, I've been very pleased with the officiating this playoffs.

I don't think either of the those two fouls against Hill should have been called flagrant. The only reason they were called that way is because that punk Hill was ready to start a fight over both of them. The referees made the calls based on Hill's reaction, not the actual play.

I loved that game. Allen Iverson is a hero. Allen, Ray is a *****. Aaron McKie, got off big w/ the missed fts.

Great game, great block by Dike at the end. Ahhhh... if every playoff series was just like they play 'em in the east.

There is no question the first one was a flagrant! Robinson shoved Hill to the ground. It wasn't as if he was getting positioning or anything -- he just took to hands and pushed him out of bounds, to the floor.

The second one was questionable, but I'd lean to say it was flagrant. Thomas didn't need to use that much contact in drawing the foul. If he'd pulled his arm out right of Hill's body quickly, I don't think it would've been flagrant.

Im with Cat on this one. Is anyone else reminded of the whining Blazer bunch from the early 90's after watching todays 6ers? Philly gets every call, yet they whine like a bunch of @#$@#'s that they are!

Cassell got fouled twice on one play with a minute to go, but no call. Thomas was also hacked but no call. Yeah Bucks got some calls too, but like usual it is the timing of this BS calls that kills a team.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE the Lakers, but I hope they beat the #$!% out of Philly. Cat is right. The 76ers arent half as good as they have been made out to be.

"What is more important than winning the game?" asked one of the professional NBC commentators. [IMG]

Hey he's right. [IMG] I don't quite understand why the Bucks couldn't keep their composure. They haven't been able to do it for the second straight game. Last game Glenn DOG, this game Sam I AM. I sure think they had a great chance to pull this one out, but it appears they are not making wise decisions.

By the way, assume Philly wins the East, we all will be in a win-win situation. It's good if the Lakers win, because some of us hate Philly. It's good if Philly wins, because some hate the Fakers.

Rockets fans, we can't lose here! [IMG]

Anyone could have predicted the Bucks were going to lose this game. They sent up a big red flag the day before. They were talking about how they were playing too soft and had to be more aggressive. They were more aggressive and got killed by the refs. The same thing happened in the Dallas-Utah series where Dallas was saying that Utah played rough so they had to play rough too. The next game they tried it and the refs stomped on them.

The lesson here is, if you play a finesse game (like Dallas and Milwaukee), don't try to become a bruiser when you play against a bruiser (like Utah and Philly). Playing in a fashion you haven't played all season is not going to win you a game in the playoffs. And refs certainly won't tolerate it.

    good point JuanValdez.

It is like being a finesse, eloquent poster all season long trying to go up against a exclamating bruiser like R0ckets03 at 2:00am, and you try to throw some ALL-CAPS at his *%#$$% ass!! [IMG]

The admins aren't going to tolerate that.

It's really hard to pull your arm back when you're in the air and the other guy is flying in your direction. Thomas had no obligation to avoid excess contact with Hill at the risk of his own body.
