The 4 MO daughter of one of my friends is undergoing heart surgery today at 11 AM ET to repair large septal defects. Please keep Caroline in your thoughts and/or prayers. She was born with defective bile ducts. Reconstructive surgery at 2 months failed to resolve the problem. Now she needs a liver transplant, but they won't put her on the recepient list until her heart problems are fixed. The heart medicine they must give her is compromising the little liver function that she has. There is general concern about her ability to withstand surgery today, but without it she can get no liver transplant.
With two daughters of my own, I shudder to think of someone so young going through so much. My thoughts are with her.
I sympathize with your friend. The baby sounds like a fighter. My thoughts are with her. Rocket River
My thoughts and prayers are with little Caroline. I really hope everything goes well. My baby girl old just came home from the hospital ICU so I know this has got to be difficult. Please let us know how things go.
Caroline is through her surgery and is doing okay. The next 72 hours will be important, so uphold her wherever/however you do that sort of thing! She had two fairly large holes in her heart that had to be closed by the surgeons. They are hopeful that sufficient repair has been done to enable Caroline to be put on the waiting list for an infant liver transplant. My own 16 YO daughter had 3 heart surgeries at age 3, 7 and 9. It was a tough ordeal even though she had no compromising situation like this one with Caroline's liver..... HOPE'S UP !!!!!
