Just saw this on Kimmel and looked it up. Zebra gives birth to healthy zonkey By Tony Burchyns, STAFF WRITER MONTARA -- A zorse is a zorse, of course, of course -- unless it's a zonkey, that is. Awakened by frantic braying at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Foxtail Farm proprietor Maria Barbaria found out her zebra, Misfit Spot, had given birth to a healthy male "zonkey." It was welcome news to Barbaria. At 5 years old, Misfit Spot has reached breeding age, and the rancher had hoped her black and white striped mare would accept the advances of one of the farm's jacks. Barbaria is a breeder. She has nine miniature donkeys, one pony and one horse. Now she's trying to break into the zonkey business. "This is the first one. He's not for sale," said Barbaria, who is also a county sheriff's deputy. "I enjoy babies, I enjoy what I do as a hobby, and I make sure they all go to good homes." The funky new foal has mom's striped legs and dad's gray body. Apparently, dad couldn't contain his zeal when the magical moment arrived. "The dad woke up everyone," she said, referring to the farm's triumphant 21-year-old miniature donkey, River's Crest Foxtail. "That's what they do when the baby comes." Barbaria said she plans to hold a contest to name the wee zonkey. "I thought kids could enter names," the deputy said. She added she might use the sheriff's substation at nearby Moss Beach to collect entries. Raising a zonkey won't be easy. "I'll have to wean him early," Barbaria said. That's because zebras are far more skittish than donkeys or horses, who often have spent generations being domesticated. Though Barbaria has a trusting relationship with her zebra, strangers might have a hard time approaching Misfit Spot, she said. Barbaria hopes the new zonkey turns out mellow. Foxtail Farm didn't always have a zebra. When Barbaria heard a breeder in Vacaville was trying to unload all his animals four-and-a-half years ago, and he was considering selling to hunting preserves, she couldn't resist saving one baby zebra. http://www.trivalleyherald.com/Stories/0,1413,86~10669~2220587,00.html Video here. http://www.nbc10.com/news/3450567/detail.html
The question I want to know is, is the zonkey able to live a full life and can it breed with any other zonkeys that happen to be (or come to be) in existence? My parents could definitely fit a zonkey in their backyard.

That's a riot! What's really strange is that the Daddy is a miniature donkey! (and a dead ringer for Orlando's GM, Wisebutt)
