What I'm asking is, who Young Leek be? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCyskkLGk6M The way Chris asks him makes me laugh.
Just finished season 3. Again, not a bad show at all. But I was expecting a lot more from what I had been hearing over the years, especially since season 3 seems to be the unanimous favorite. I'd rate it about a 6.5/10. And now, based on how it played out, I'm not sure I even want to continue watching the series. Should I even bother if I haven't really enjoyed it all that much yet? I am mildly curious to see what happens with the Game of Thrones guy and Colvin. That's about it. I'll keep an eye out for posts that respond to my post, but will ignore all others in case of spoilers.
While I disagree with your opinion, you probably shouldn't continue boring yourself if you don't like it.
If the next 2 seasons are about on par with season 3 I'm entertained enough to continue most likely. If it is downhill from season 3 then I'm out. McNulty could die episode 1, season 4 and I wouldn't even care. I'm not attached to anyone except Stringer.
Wow, I can't even comprehend someone giving The Wire a 6.5/10. I've seen the series about 5 times and I enjoy it as much as I did the first time. If you've gotten this far and you don't enjoy it, you probably never will. So just stop watching it. EDIT: I personally think that seasons 4 and 5 are just as good as season 3, but I'm probably alone there. If you don't have an attachment to any of the other characters than I beg you to stop watching immediately. I consider this show to have the best characters of any show ever, so if you don't like them then move on to something else.
I had the same problems as ziggy, I didn't care about any of the cops and like 60% of the show is about them. But I stayed around because I enjoyed all the stories about the kids and Omar. Spoiler I still can't believe some little kid killed Omar... So whack
I think season 4 of the Wire is the best season of TV ever. I actually had the same problem with breaking bad. Still on season 2. Just didn't like or care about any of the characters. So I guess I can understand not liking the wire
For what it's worth...season 4 is my absolute favorite, and I actually thought that was the prevailing opinion...not season 3. You should watch season 4, and if you still aren't impressed then definitely no need for season 5.
See I think this the problem with watching a tv series, long after everyone else. It gets hyped up so much, you go in expecting too much. People were calling The Wire the greatest TV drama ever. So I'm not surprised when people that watch it later on, don't agree with all the accolades it receives. Binge watching is cool but I still think the preferable way is watching a show live. The one week wait lets you process and analyze the episode more, and builds up excitement and anticipation for the next episode. Then you add in all the interesting discussion that takes places within that week with other fans of the show. Sure it sucks to wait especially after a cliff hanger, but thats just part of the journey.
I binged the first 3 seasons of BB. Binged 3 seasons of GoT. I could see what you're saying being true for TD. But it had no affect on me when it came to GoT or BB so I don't think it holds true for me.
Opposite for me. Guess my memory isn't good enough to keep track of everything after a week, I forget some stuff & do better watching them all together.
Yeah, keep watching. Edit: Actually, nevermind. Just went to refresh my memory on what happens at the end of season three. I'm shocked that you think The Wire is a 6.5/10, to each his own I guess.
Yep. Spoiler If the only character that I remotely cared about is gone, what do I even care anymore? Some up and coming little kid?
No, the kids have some pretty good storylines in season four. Just watch it. You will hate Marlo as much as you liked Stringer.
Favorite show of all time. My girlfriend wasn't much of a fan, and I can see how it could be difficult to get into. I had problems liking Breaking Bad for a long while. Watched the first 2 seasons, and then didn't touch it for a year. Second time around was the charm.
After reading Ziggy doesn't like the wire... Spoiler <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BR_IWrBRuLk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It is. A lot consider season 4 one of the best seasons in TV history... but if it still hasn't clicked then I don't know if it will at this point. I was hooked after 2 or 3 episodes.
Looks like the Wire is getting a remaster! Note that the trailer was leaked prematurely, and the remastering will air later than September: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/VpC3JtED-Po" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
