I can see how this where this would fail, but it looks really awesome!

XBOX's Project Natal was announced at E3 yesterday (RC cola?):

This seriously reminds me of Minority Report when Tom Cruise filters through clips of the crimes!

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9pLLp9I-wXE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9pLLp9I-wXE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This may belong in the E3 thread, but i figured it would get more exposure out here.

X-Box should just ignore the Wii and focus on what it does well.

    There's nothing wrong with progress.

I see it as Wii taking a fork in the road and going a different direction. Not a matter of one console being more progressive than the other. The Wii's perfect for Nintendo's demographic and the object of scorn from hardcore gamers (XBox/PS/PC demographic).

An X-box Zune would seem to make more sense to me.

u answered your own question.... :p

will be interesting to see if this ever pans out, in reality, its going to be 4 years since the 360 in Nov. and we still don't have a hint of the next gen consoles, IMO, its a win-win for consumers

    That looks so mayzar.

    Seriously...

Imagine NBA Live 2014 or whenever it will be out. How's it supposed to know if I'm doing a jump shot or a jump pass? How will it know where exactly I'm aiming? And if I really want to play basketball that realistically - wouldn't I just go to the gym and actually play basketball?

Same with the skateboarding or whatever.

If it tries to mimic reality too closely, it will fail - since most people want video games to extend beyond reality.

Also, the racing pit stop looked r****ded. Who's going to sit around for 5 minutes just so they can help with a pit stop?

Anyways - I just don't see this panning out...especially considering X-Box can't even figure out where I'm passing the ball all the time when I'm using a controller.

Wii has been the same stuff for years. Hope they now feel some pressure and start thinking again.

The Wii is the Wii killer. No games and limited use of the stupid controllers. It was the worst investment ever.

Looks really lame to me. Replay value looks close to zero.

Reminds me of some free games at newgrounds.com whereyou use your webcam to do basically the same exact thing.

There's some bubble popping game etc....which looks just about as fun as these games....2-5min of fun.

I had a uncomfortable feeling that this thread would have Rosie O'Donnel pics.

I agree. I bought one on launch night, played Wii Sports, Zelda, Mario Galaxy, and a little Smash Bros. Brawl (before I got fed up with the sh#tty online play) and I haven't touched it since. In fact, I gave it to my parents because they wanted to get a Wii Fit. They actually did get the Wii Fit, and have yet to use it.

The first time I played Wii Sports, it was magical. Unfortunately, the console went nowhere after that, and in terms of motion control, Wii Sports is probably still its best game.

Sorta like the uncanny valley of motion controls and gaming.

I don't really think other console manufacturers need to focus on the Wii at all. The Wii's own limitations has forced its demise. It has a limited number of games, a very small demographic it appeals to, and the gameplay is shoddy. If anything, the Wii has served as a novelty at best and most people I know barely ever play theirs. This project has failure written all over it because of the simple fact that when people play video games, they want to be as far removed from reality as possible. It's one thing to have premium graphics and sound.....it's another to have to actually be PART of the action.

Yes Wii is like a accessory but only now ms and sony are doing it. Think of the entire Wii system as a peripheral like the lightgun, the DDR dance pad, or a GH Guitar.

Part of me agrees, but there are a few games that Wii's motion sensing REALLY improves:

    RE4 (point & shoot)
Trauma Center (AWESOME game, and I don't see how it would be any fun without motion controls)
WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Great party game, and everything is motion-based)
Rayman Ravin' Rabbids (same as WarioWare)
    Wii Sports (duh)
Okami (drawing can be done directly rather than with control stick)

To me, those games, and re-releases of games with motion controls, are worth the price of admission, and there are probably some I'm missing.

I use my PS3 A LOT more than my Wii or my 360, but it doesn't mean the Wii is a complete waste.

The Wii is garbage. I sold mine after a month and bought a XBOX360.

Obviously your demographic is somewhere in the 15-29 range and into a lot of p*rn.

    I have all 3 (Ps3,Xbox360,Wii)

Ps3 great cheap blue-ray player, games with intense graphics (sorry online game play though)
Xbox360 great online content , netflix streaming, games for mature audience
Wii great for the little ones (Think under 12 crowd) , also great for people over 30 who aren't die hard gamers. Plus with the new ability to play backup games from an external HD is a big A$@ plus..
