I saw Jeff make mention of this in the hurricane thread, but I'm surprised no one has started a thread of their own on this subject. Not to suggest that we lose sight of the fact that there are people in Florida losing their homes right now, but I feel like I need to comment on this--and in the same manner I spoke of it when I talked to my mom earlier: I've lived in Texas almost 38 years, and I've never, ever, NEVER experienced one day in the month of August that was as beautiful as it has been today and yesterday afternoon. You know--88 degrees is certainly on the warm side, but when the skies are clear and the humidity is low.............it's a DAMN fine time to be outside.
We got a Husky from the SPCA two weeks ago and I've spent most of last night, this morning before work and lunch today with him outside playing catch. I love this weather!
I guess this is as good a time as ever to brag. My wife just called me about five minutes ago. Some friends of ours who own a house on Tiki Island are going to New Mexico for the weekend. They just gave my wife the keys to the bay house.
that's great...my wife and son and i should be there by 7. looking forward to it. just leave the front door unlocked for us.
Best summer ever (temp). Only 2 days with 100 degree weather in Austin (and it was only briefly 100). Lots of rain ~ full lakes, creeks, etc. and everything is so GREEN. Three cool fronts in July and August the last one being pretty strong ~ record lows this week high 50's in the hill country. I could go on and on, but I have to get my bike ready for a nice cool August ride...
Man, you thin that's somethin', up here in OK we've had highs in the low 70s lately. For a state that's usually in the high 90s to low 100s right now, this sh*t is crazy.
It's been nice up here in Dallas for the past few days. Of course, after having been to the California coast, this weather blows.
I woke up this morning and I thought I was in San Diego. Not really! But, you know what I mean. I called all my boys in NYC to tell them to look at the weather report for Houston. They always complain about the heat down here but it is not as bad as the cold there. I was in NYC for 3 months early this year. I don't think it got above 16 degrees. Anyways, I will be enjoying it this weekend at my local Starbucks!
I'm on vacation at my grandmas house in Kansas. The temperature was 59 degrees with a high of about 75 the other night. When I left houston the heat index was about 110. It kinda threw me for a loop.
It's been absolutely beautiful in LA too this week. Not that anyone's going to care. I just thought I'd mention it.
