Getting TMac solves our perimeter game, along with a decent PG and JJ I feel confident about our outside game next year. But losing Cato really concerns me. What about low post defense? Post (interior) defense is so important these days. I loved the way Cato responded defensively when he was in there. I think we really need another shot blocker to spell Yao. Plus Yao has needed a good backup. He hasn't been able to do it for 35+ minutes consistantly. What shot blockers are available. I think our defense will suffer and it will affect the TMac factor if we are any softer on the inside next season. Just asking for a list of potential shot blockers out there.
I think you will find this thread enlightening. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79355
I would Go after Keon Clark or Etan thomas!. Both are defensive workhorses and would Complement yao!. Kurt thomas who may not be a classic shot blocker, but he also plays hard defense, and hits the boards hard!.
Seattle has a few. Please see my post in the Can we trade Mo Taylor thread. ---------------------- Look, you're talking about Kelvin Cato here. That's a backup, man. Some extra help when Yao's out. We're not talking starter. I think it's going to be more important for the starting power forward to seal the lane than it is for him to attack weakside for the block while Yao takes a hit. Not smart risk for Yao. If you want something on the cheap, give Eddie Griffin another try. There's some weakside help from the 4 spot.
